My new gadget.
Well, it happened. I purchased another music player. Interesting, because I didn't intend to purchase it. But it's there. Now let me explain.
I got a used PSP for $130. Not bad. As everyone knows, the PSP can be used for music, pics and videos. My M6 does the same thing, only in a smaller screen. As a music player, the PSP does not have half the functionality of the M6. Ditto with the pictures. Video is different, since it's easier to transfer and convert videos into the PSP.
I haven't used my M6 less. As a matter of fact, I use my M6 mostly and only for music. In the period I've had the M6, I've used it for pics and vids maybe twice, or three times. My main use for the M6 is music, and it excels. Can you imagine strapping the PSP to your arm? ;-)
The only thing I'm using a bit more in the PSP than in the M6 is the video functionality. As I said, it's easier to transfer and convert videos to the PSP. Although for this you need to purchase the PSP Media Manager software. Did I say purchase? Thank God for Bittorrent.
Why post about this in the forum? Well, when I purchased the PSP I knew full well the device's capabilities. I thought that I would end up using the M6 less. Not so. My M6 gets used every day for more time than the PSP does.
And for those who are wondering, here's a couple of observations of the PSP's capabilities vis-a-vis the M6:
Music: No support for playlists. *Huge* for me.
Pictures: Nice screen and on the fly resolution adjust, but no photo shuffle functionality. No random transitions. No defined time between picture transition.
Video: the *only* function that trumps the M6. BUT, videos needs to be converted to Sony's format in the same way that videos need to be converted to Meizu's .avi.
Games: of course no contest.
I haven't spoken about the PSP's wi-fi functionality because it hasn't rubbed me quite right yet. I mean, it's nice to surf with the thing, but you'll spend 5 minutes logging into Gmail, let alone writing. I have used the internet in the PSP for about an hour. I have downloaded demos to my computer and used the mem stick to transfer the game from my computer into the PSP.
Now, I'm looking forward to the M8. In black. It'll be a nice addition to my arsenal.
