Is Meizu Getting Left Behind?
As I wait eagerly anticipating any news relating to the M8, I do have to ask the question are meizu getting left behind? At this current time meizu has 2 beautiful and useful yet glichy players on the market with capacities of up to 8gb no expansion and very average screens, GUI's and video playback. In the last 2 weeks there has been news of some very nice looking players emerging:
1. Creative Zen 16gb flash player: http://www.amazon.com/Creative-Labs-...8295318&sr=1-1
2. Cowon D2 8gb (16gb with sdhc card) & DAB Radio (www.iaudiophile.net)
3. Cowon Iaudio 7 16gb flash player
3. Samsung P2, 8gb 16 million colour 3 inch wide/touch screen w blutooth (http://www.engadget.com/2007/08/28/s...-in-september/)
4. Possible 3g iphone and new ipods in by christmas.
suddenly the M6SE (which is clearly a long way from production) does not seem that great. Also as much as i'm looking forward to the m8, (mainly for cell phone capabilities, wifi and Xvid playback without transcoding) by the time we see a 16gb or 3g version who knows whats gonna be available then in the DAP & cellphone markets? judging buy meizus sketchy firmware updates the question must also be asked will any of their players even have their glitches ironed out buy then? what do people rekon???Last edited by sere83; 08-28-2007 at 03:37 PM.

Its funny sere83... Ive seen some posts from you sort of complaining because you're basically looking for a dap/pmp that does not exist.
Well, Its all about market studies bro, each company works on the products they think will be bought by people, if not, rest assure that no one will produce something again
Technology is always changing, maybe by the time that new ipods will come out there will be another technology they will lack, is what it is, and its hard to keep yourself up to date, unless you have tons of money to spend.Internet has an answer for every question out there, not likely to be always the answer you're looking for.

We are in a dry period, Meizu is putting a lot of effort and resources into the upcoming M8. But when it releases, I know it will really elevate Meizu and think this will be worth it.
Can't wait to play with the Meizu MX!

after a ridiculous amount of research into trying to find a 3 inch screened dap that supports xvid without transcoding I have found certain devices that can perform the function, but they are made by smaller companies in asia with no european distribution so I am finding it difficult to get my hands on one. The research was useful however after all as it has made me more aware that compromise is necessary at this current time. However we are at a point now where flash memory is starting to be seen as a possible replacement for HDD in portable devices offering smaller more portable devices with higher capacities and more functions. You are correct about the rapid speed of constantly evolving technologies and the fact that there will always be something new that will outdate the current solutions. However I still feel that with such great competion that meizu may be neglecting its original consumers in the quest to open up a new market for them self in the cellphone/convergence device sector. Don't get me wrong I will be first in line for an M8 but to grow as a company you must keep up with the competition and lets face it.....a dap manafacturer with no plans to evolve with the dap competiton and current technologies won't be able to compete. However I do hope that meizus forray into the cell phone market does prove succesful and give them the recognition they deserve.

I would not be excited about the M8 before I have seen its firmware. Stability, compatibility and usability are the main things I am looking for. Right now I am very skeptical if they can do it because they could have done that with the M6 as well - but they left us with those bugs for moths. I am not gonna spend $400 or more for a bug collection like this again. They must fix the M6 before I buy another device form Meizu. If they don't, they show clearly that it will be no difference with the M8 - then you'll end up with 2 players with buggy firmware while they put their efforts in making an M10 with direct brain input and warp field engine. No no, it doesn't work that way, Meizu. This reminds me strongly of Kiss Technologies !

Thanked 0 Times in 0 PostsThe Amazon page for the Zen was taken down, and Creative put up their own site here: Creative ZEN
I creat3ed a topic for it HERE after reading about it at anythingbutipod.com and then checking the official site. DAMN nice looking player, and making me want it if the M6SE isn't better... though I'm hoping with the delay, and this Creative player coming, they'll change a bit of their ideas and add some things like 16GB and SD card slot.I swim through a sea of stars, without looking back to shore...

Thanked 0 Times in 0 PostsI'd like to note that the M6SE is supposed to have a better display resolution (720×480), longer battery life (30 hours music), broader range of supported formats (although the Zen's AAC support looks nice) and a TV out.
That's a tad better than the Zen in the link ^^

yes but the M6SE is also a big deal because the orginal M6 had big attention from known online reviewers like anythingbutipod, dapreview and so on.And imagine the news "the SE... the new REFERCENCE in pmp market!"or something like that.^^It would just pop in your eye like-cheap, great sound, big video codec support etc.
I think you know what i mean O.^
