I sure hope that white box isn't the icon for Stop... as in, no music is currently playing. Turn off the hold button on the bottom, if it's on, and push play once.

That is the stop icon. It means your music isn't playing. When the player is on, press the power button again to play.
If you are having trouble with your player, please visit this thread first and try the steps before you panic. Most likely you will be able to fix your player easily using the steps listed.

Players: Meizu M6 SP 4GB, iPod Touch 4G
Headphones: SoundMAGIC PL-50s, Auvio In-Ear Armatures, Bose QC-15s.
Current Audio Congifuration: X-Fi Elite Pro w/LM4562 Mod -> Mission MS-50 + Boston Acoustics Subwoofer

I've tried pressing the power switch to play and it will say on top "Now playing" then it goes back to showing the time and no music... And, the white box it still there!

I also tried the hold button but realized that when that is on, the lock shows up not the white box.

Any other suggestions before I throw this thing out the window???

You might have corrupted mustc files, or a corrupted firmware. Try loading new songs into your player. If that doesn't work, update the firmware.

What sort of downloaded music files are they?
Can you access\see them through the browser function?
Restart your player and press the >> button, if the music starts to play then the power\play button may be faulty.

When I look in the manual - it's the same little white square as shown when recording. I have no idea why and I can't get rid of it!

I downloaded music from Napster - could that be the problem - what sites do you suggest I use for music downloading?

I was told to hold the >> button but it just clicks like it's trying to fast forward.

    Is it dead???

I just wasn't sure if they are copy protected files or .acc or something which will not play on the Meizu.

Do you still have the sample music that came on your player?
    If so do they play?

If they are regular Mp3's or wma put them into the Music folder they should be ok.

You could also try a reset to factory defaults by holding the >> button while turning the player on but be sure to backup anything on your player you want as it will get formatted with the reset.

I am not sure of any download sites as I rip my own CD's, perhaps someone else can offer some site suggestions.
