Portable mini-speaker?
Hey i was wondering if there is a small mini speaker out there i could just throw in my backpack/pocket/what ever. loud enough that i can hear it from 6 feet away, but small enough i can bring it places. i was thinking like a mini cube with 1 speaker or something. Also, it would be cool if it jus dragged power from the mini player instead of having a battery.
anyone know of anything like this?

a few options:

those JBL's are one of the best highly portable speakers around at the moment, don't expect too much form the bottom end though. If it was me id probably go with them, that linx b tube w/ blutooth looks interesting too, havn't seen any reviews around thoughLast edited by sere83; 08-21-2007 at 12:52 AM.

I get over 12 hours of play (with a full charge) from it after a minor mod - about 7 hours before the mod. Definitely loud enough to hear from 6 feet.Last edited by rmteo1; 08-21-2007 at 01:21 AM.

Thanked 0 Times in 0 PostsThe mod I did was to clip the leg of the red (ON) led - which is very bright/distracting - and that increased the run time of the speaker. A green LED will still light when it is under charge. The clipped leg is the one closest to the speaker jack.

The mini cube is brilliant but those two you showed are louder than it , how do i know??? i own all of them , also before you ask the sound box one is loudest , but also they do a foldable one which is even louder.

Which foldable one are you talking about? I don't need it to be very loud. A better sounding one is preferable. There is not much info listed for the sound box, do you know its specs/dimension/weight? Is it battery operated? The mini cube seemed to be a nice size. Which is your personal favorite. Thanks for your input.

The best bass is the folding speakers , which is also the biggest and loudest the best sound ti size ratio is the sound box... it is reasonably loud and of a good quaity, The soundbox uses a rechargable battery that is charged via USB ...
The foldable ones :
http://dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.4
They use 3 x aaa batterys though which is a pain but they are the loudest with ok bass
although i belive http://www.dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.3950 is the same as the folding one but with a difernt look to it.... (I dont own http://www.dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.3950)
the minicube speaker is good for its size but its not outstanding in quality... That said it is the cheapest of the lot...
near your pc and battery powerd when your out and about...
If you need a smaller one go for the soundbox
If you need rechargable battery go for the soundbox again
If you need cheap then i guess the mini cube is the best option seeing as its very cheap....
If you want good sound go for http://www.dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.3950
personally i use the foldable ones and the soundbox only.... It depends what your needs are really , They are so cheap you can just get both and see which you prefer...
edit:
Ive just noticed http://dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.4218
Looks pretty good im gonna get one.... By far the best looking and compact of the lot.... Sorry - a little off topic. Ill write a review of the quality once i get it...Last edited by lite; 09-11-2007 at 08:26 PM.

Lite,
I think I might go with the sound box for its portability and sound. For twice the cost, I just hope they're better than the speaker cube.
The foldable one and the other foldable (weigh almost twice the first foldable) seemed to be a little on the large and heavy side. I like the 2nd foldable though.
I don't think you need to unfold it to play, just open the wings
. Do post review when u get it though. Thanks for your input.

the speaker cube is great. i just turn volume up to 30 on my mini player, put it in my pocket and bike to school and i can hear it the whole time though it does get muffled by the cars (what do u expect). theres absolutely no bass but i don't care about that for a mini speaker. i just use it to walk around the halls and listen to music.
