Meizu M8 to outsell the Iphone?

After reading that article it just dawned on me that the meizu m8 may infact out sell the iphone. The US has roughly 300,000000 people. Even if you add the populations of spain, germany, france, Uk and other smaller countries where the iphone will initially be available It still probably will not reach china's population. The iphone is also very expensive and will not be as readily available to the public. This may be just ludicrous speculation, what do peeps rekon?

Meizu M8 won't outsell iPhone. iPhone is an apple product. People will just buy it because it's apple. -Like the iPod.

You are not taking into account the effective number of people desiring to buy such a product... Not everybody would buy a smartphone, or a mobile phone at all. It seems as if you considered that every single person would buy a iphone.
+ You do not take into account other brands... Nokia, Motorola, Samsung, Sony, that will release products with similar capacities. They won´t stay inactive, believe me.
How many brands of mp3/mp4 players exist?
+ Chinese purchase power is very low. The real market is a lot smaller + other chinese brands + products.

80% of the ipod competitors are better, and it is still number 1.

Also, unless it's compatible with US cellular networks, it won't have any effect on the iphone. I still believe that Meizu is afraid to tangle legally with Apple on US turf regarding trademark/design infringement issues that would undoubtedly be raised. Even if there wasn't a case with the differences in GUI, OS, etc., it would still cost a bundle to defend.

If it is introduced as a phone outside of China, they had better have done their homework regarding any patents or trademarks specifically as it relates to the look of the product. Not to say that the iphone looks that much different than other smart phones or PDA/Cell enabled phones out there, but Apple has deep pockets and will defend itself if there is any belief that the products will be confused in the market.

Do you have any idea, how many people in China actually know what a "mobile phone" is?

Meizu will never beat Apple in sales. It's a fundamental theory of life.

Actually, mobile phone penetration rates are pretty high in China. Many people even skipped the landline telephone development and went for mobile phones directly. There are all kinds of low-end phones used in rural areas.

The real problem is, not many in China would be willing to fork out $400 for a phone. And those who will, typically buy stuff for the brand and status associated with it. For instance, they'd rather buy and iPod than a Meizu MP3 because it's American and the ads are plastered everywhere.

Ignorance is bliss. Everyone from their uncle to the fish farmer has a bloody cell phone in China. China currently has more than 501.64million cell phone subscribers - thats almost twice the amount of people in USA.
