    Should I upgrade firmware ?

My m6 is working great, and I wondered if there was any reason to upgrade
the firmware? I have the 1.0 version, I guess that's the number, anyway I'm
afraid to upgrade, has anyone wished that they had'nt and changed back ?
What if any advantage would there be to me, since everything is working so
    well ?

Go to Settings\About to find your firmware version. If it is 1.010 then there have been a few improvements since.

You can view the changelogs here:

    Changelog for 2.002.3

    Changelog for 2.003.2

I have updated with every release since 1.009, I am quite happy with 2.003.2 others prefer 2.002.3.

Firmware versions are not progressive updates, each one is a full reinstall so it does not matter if you go from 1.009 to 2.003.2 and miss the ones in between.

To change a background you need to load the images you want to your players PHOTO directory then view the images on your player using the PHOTO feature. Select the one you want and then press enter or tap the middle of the touch strip to bring up the Background menu and select where you want to use the image and press enter again. If you want to go back to the default image you have to go to Settings\Display and select Use Default Background.

If you want to install a theme got to Settings\About and find your firmware version number. Select a theme you want that is using the same firmware version as on your player. Most themes downloaded are .zip or .rar files which contain the resource.bin file so you need to extract the file and copy it to your player, disconnect and then restart the player. When the player boots it will load the new theme to your player.

personally i think think any major features besides maybe the 2 fps extra have been added since 1.001
I am on the newest firmware but notice little difference...i DO notice the annoying new auto update function which runs without me wanting it

the new firmwares are cool... but I am still waiting for the big new things (like USB OTG etc)

Why do others prefer 2.002.3 when there is another upgrade?

The Major thing is better battery life. Before you can only get 20 hrs with music. Now it is 36 hrs with 2.003.2

with the screen off, volume to 0 and a 64kp mp3?

You cant really use your player with the screen off as that means you cant operate it what so ever during those 36 hours which makes the 36 hours a pointless number

id say a more realistic number with normal use is 26 hours
