No lower prices?
the new version of the M6(SP?) is supposed to be cheaper as Meizu announced
Yet I dont see these lower prices reflected in the prices of the online stores or on Ebay.
Why didnt they drop their price if they can buy the unites cheaper?

Hmm... Weak dollar and not much discount to foreign dealers (Dane-Elec has to earn something too) are some of reasons I can think of.
Can't wait to play with the Meizu MX!

What about HouseofDAP.com for example?
The weak dollar doesnt influence their prices and they ship from china so dont need to import the players.
Actually in this case the weak Dollar is good(for Europeans that is...)

Well, weak dollar would mean they earn less per player as their prices are set in dollars. At the same time the relative price for shipping will increase, along with other fees.

that weak dollar was there even before the SPversion was introduced so thats no excuse
The dollar has been weak for years now ever since the euro was introduced basically..
The same weak dollar at lower prices in china for the Meuzi m6 SP version means more profit for sellers... would be nice if we say some of that pricedrop reflected in the prices of online stores

I mean the M6 IS cheap in comparison to other mp3-players of that quality.

the weak dollar was there way before the SP version got released so thats no excuse... they have always been working withteh same weak dollar since
the dollar has been weak for years, ever since the introduction of the euro.
I understand the prices in europe wont get much lower(although they should profit of the weak dollar and strong euro too) but I am talking about stores based in China like houseofdap.com
They have lower costs to buy the units as Meizu lowered the prices as they manufacture the SP version cheaper yet didnt change the pricing of the units in their stores.
so the SP version that Meizu intended to be cheaper turns out to be teh same price as the TP version... that extra money most go somewhere and its not into the pockets of the buyers from these websites...
It would be nice to see those lower prices reflectd in the online prices.

@puffel:
you might be right but thats not the point here
I am not bashingthe M6, I love mine
The point is that the units got cheaper yet buyers still pay the old price...
So.. Meizu delivers the same great quality at a lower price to china based stores and china based stores charge the same old price totheir buyers...
the stores should atleast lower the prices somewhat as the price of one unit for them went down significantly...right now the benifit of the SP version to the consumer is 0 as he pays the same old(higher)price
this is not how its intended by Meizu either... they lowered the price as they can produce them cheaper and so sell them cheaper and so hopefully more...
if only retailers keep the price artificially high and keep charging the old price the only one benefitting from the SP lower priced units are the retailers...Last edited by Job; 12-11-2006 at 10:23 PM.

Thanked 0 Times in 0 PostsAnd thus you have capitalism. There's also a lack of competition in terms of online retailers that offer the M6 outside of China, so no need to lower prices.

The weak dollar is a recent phenomena (2 weeks tops). It has recently hit rock bottom but has now started to recover slowly again.
4GB SP is around 170 dollars in China. Can't wait to play with the Meizu MX!

Dane-Elec is taking a nice cut because they have exclusive and have paid for Sisvel license for Meizu. We pay more now for the SP then we did for the TP when we bought directly from Meizu.
We also include more free stuff than we used to so we make even less. The sellers in China should be making very good money since they don't need to worry about Sisvel license or Dane-Elec.
