I realized a similar behaviour on the M8 a while ago.
It needs to be close to me so the touchscreen recognizes the touch or i need to touch it with more then the finger on the screen.
It was kind of funny to compare this behaviour to the iPhone 3gs :P
Nice to see that it is more ... common
It works quite well if you have a conductive underground (I have metal desk so i was quite surprised when i realized this on a friends wood desk)
