    M6/Music Card/M8 Observations

I am a great fan of meizu and their products yet I have noticed a few things. Firstly the only differences between the m6 and the m3 appears to be size, design, price and video playback framerate. Apart from that they are very similar, while I think the m6 and the m3 look like great players I own a 20gb sony nw-hd5 which covers all my audio needs very well. So the only reason to buy one of them would be for the extra fm, picture, codec support and video options. While picture viewing would be fine on the m6, I never use fm tuners, and most of my tunes are in mp3. Also for me (and i presume most people) the m3 screen is too small for video playback and people may disagree, but 18fps playback on the the 2.4 " screen of the m6 is not good enough for me to have decent viewing experience. I know its been said before but sorting out the video 'issues' on the m6 would really clinch the deal for me. I know it may be a hardware issue but in such a competitive market A/V sync problems should NEVER be a problem and video should run at at least 23.98fps. Also if I save a bit more cash there is always the cowon D2!! which has proved itself as a market leader. Nevertheless when the m8 drops I will be first in line. I've seen the iphone hands on preview videos and I am no apple fan (have never owned an ipod or any other apple products) but meizu will NEVER rival the apple GUI whatever anyone thinks, it is truly amazing. However the m8 will have those ellusive video options that meizu players seem to lack, however like many have said too the design is a little dubious but for me its whats under the hood that counts. However I do think Meizu should branch out in their design for future players, away from 'applesque' form as they know they have great hardware and software.

Thanks, now I have a headache. Please use line spacing in the future.

I am not really sure what the purpose of this is. Do you want Meizu owners to convince you to buy one?

no im not trying to get meizu owners to convince me to buy one just sharing some of my opinions (usually one of the main reasons people post on a forum), maybe should have asked some specific question but thought people may just read it and comment on some of my points and give me some different perspectives. Apologies for expressing my views

I still don't understand. Do you own a Meizu? If yes/no, what are you trying to accomplish? What type of response are you anticipating?

I dont think Sere83 is trying to accomplish anything in particular.. he is just stating his thoughts... be it in a rather un-spaced way

to reply to your post(as far as thats possible as its more of a statement): I agree on some things and disagree on other things... :P

The M6 actually plays 20 FPS and would be a nice upgrade from NW-HD5 considering size, sound quality, community and some other issues.

Since their rootkit scandal, I have never bought any Sony products.

I have explained what i was doing in my last post, it's not exactly rocket science. I don't own a meizu but have used one before and I was giving my opinion of the feature set of their various products and how useful they would be to me. Thought people may do the same (e.g say: i use my meizu for...... and think that it is ......' or pick me up on certain points and perhaps change my view on certain features. Next time I will try and be more direct and ask specific questions or phrase it better, rather than expressing a simple opinion.

    amen to that my brother!
bought a set of sony earphones once, 80 euros or something, literally fell apart after 2 months but i lost the receipt, contacted Sony 5 times, not 1 single reply, their mp3 players while having good sound quality have dated specs , use retarded sortware, Sony has a habbit of introducing failing formats(Atrac,UMD anyone?) and the Playstantion 3 has been plagued by bad production and bad marketing for over a year now... that ontop of Sonys arrogant attitude towards consumers and their competition makes me stay clear of Sony products for a while

true I think bad marketing and fialing formats is a large issue. I think the new sony NW-A806 device is also a pathetic attempt at a player, the spec is awful and already outdated however...........the nw-hd5 howver has astronomic battery life, good looks and the new sonic stage is fine for me, I find it very easy to use. The main things are the extended battery life (around 30hrs) and the remote I purchased which operates all functions of the player. It may not have a colour screen and be no good for pics and vids but as an audio player the sound is great. i do think sony have gone very downhill over the last few years, they really used to innovate in the portable player market (remember the original walkman) they are not even contenders these days. Once 16gb flash memory becomes commercially available, if they incorporate such larger capacity drives into their devices, this is when i think meizu can really shine (as their battery life is good and their players already have great design, sound and features)

I believe the Meizu M6 with new firmware can outperform NW-A806 battery wise.

It is rated at 36 hours.

hmmm I think the M6 with a new battery(new are are developped all the time) and good firmware could do that and more
Lets not forget Meizu is a relatively new company and if they keep going they waythey are now they will get big

@Sere83: yeah Sony has been going down hill... they were the king of the walkman, market leader during the diskman era, then they came up with Minidisk(hey we can add that to the failed Sony formats above! ) which on itself was not a bad device at all but Sonys fatal flaw was to stick with the Minidisc while companies like creative came up with the Mp3 player. If Sony would have kept their eyes on the market instead of themselves they might have more than their sad little 1% of the Mp3 player market...

Sonic stage - is one very god reson not to by a sony player - I just wanna plug it in and be able to transfer music.

M6 video playback i actually quite smooth, and quite sharp to. - But only watched one simpsons episode on it, did not buy it as a video player.
