    Meizu Opens Flagship Store

Earlier today, New Years Day 2009, Meizu opened their flagship store in downtown Shenzhen.

The opening event drew a large crowd many of whom went just to see the M8 phone. The few available Meizu M8 were quickly sold out and most people instead rushed to get their names on the waiting list.

    So is your post.

Go complain about the LG Prada, Samsung Instinct, and the BlackBerry Bold while you're at it. There are loads of touchscreen phones out there. Doesn't mean they're copying Apple.

    Great news!
This is the right way to start a new year. Now if only that license would come already..

On another note, Engadget is at it again: they just posted a picture of an apple store with the Meizu logo photoshoped inside.. Chris Ziegler is one sad douchebag.

Hey guys I found more pictures:

If you think this is a coincidence you're either in denial or retarded.

But I doubt this comes as much of a surprise to people like myself who have realized that all Meizu products have adopted a style too similar of Apple's. It's not only the M8 you morons.

But why should we all be so surprised? I mean, this is a Chinese company.

You're one sad douchebag too. It's quite easy to get on the 'Engadget is a blog with Apple fanboys for authors', since it's proven to be true in numerous cases (let's not name Darren Murph - whoops), but you have to be a douchebag not to realize what this company is doing.

    WAKE UP.

Well, Steve Job's mind police certainly did a great job. Happy brainwashing.

This is getting unreasonable. I find American cars unreliable compared to their Asian counterparts. Doesn't mean I should find all American companies bad.

Besides, this is a Meizu fansite. Don't you have better things to do, or is your self-esteem so low that you have nowhere else to go?

Ha ha, when I saw this post I thought it was a joke. Almost like an april fools. Given that the post was not on april first, and that this is serious, it clearly a case of cloning apple.

The cloning is not so much about the touch screen, but the store design. The glass cube is almost identical to other apple stores launched internationally. To deny this similarity is really to ignore the facts. There are two stores that look like this ... 1. Apple, 2. Meizu.

Unfortunately some Chinese companies choose to copy western companies (and their products) instead of developing something new. This is not competition, nor is it innovation. Its just theft. I dont want to make any statements about the degree to which Meizu is doing this specfically. I am saying that its a very disturbing trend. The west innovates, China copies and then usually sells back to the west. This is wrong in so many ways.

I would have more respect for Chinese companies if they took something that they saw and improved on it, but we almost never see that. The cost reductions that you see are always at the expense of the environment, breaking the rules of trade (fixed exchange rates, fixed labour rates) and not paying their working population a living wage (how many have retirement policies, medical aid and other benefits).

Its like stealing a car, living with your parents, borrowing somebody elses clothes and faking your degree and then asking for a lower salary than everyone else (in the same age and education bracket) when you start work. Sure your expenses are lower, but at what cost.

Oh and this is not an "asian" thing. There are many examples of Japanese companies who have continued to innovate and improve their products year on year for decades. In many cases they have led the way with respect to product design & features.

I wonder when the term "intellectual capital" is going to enter the Chinese phrasebook.

Copy Copy... Chinese copy American's.. American's copy Japanese ... This world is all about copying and trying to beat the patent law... its part of buisness copying what other people do best... nothing to flame or boast...

Grats on the grand opening of Meizu.....
Good Luck bringing it over to US or other place without patent/copyright lawsuits
