Meizu M6 Mini Player SL Officially Announced

Meizu officially announced their new M6 Mini Player Super Slim (SL) today. The M6 SL is the new, 7.3mm thin version of the M6. In order to shave off some bulk, a new, smaller battery is used, which can support audio for up to 26 hours and videos for 4.5 hours.

The M6 SL has a new screen sized 2.41" inches (up from 2.4" inches) that also offers a better viewing angle. It is also known that a new audio chip is used, rumored to output better sound than before. One final improvement is the addition of support for APE (lossless) audio files.

Super Slim hits shelves in China on September 25 priced at 650/799/1099 CNY (approx $90/110/150 USD) for capacities 2/4/8 GB.

nice! i see they have changed the button layout a little. there won't be any play/pause button on the sides of the player? how will you pause the music while browsing in the menu?

Great new design. It looks like itself in original size.
Wonder if Dane-Elec also will release this nice thing I Europe in the future.

The Enter button has also been replaced by the play/pause button I see.
Maybe could this mean the navigations in the menus is now whole different and have gotten more user-friendly. Maybe one of the old M6 small weaknesses.
But I'm waiting the see what people have to say about this Slimline version.

Oh true that nice2know_u, I only just noticed! I wonder what the top button is. I think it is the on/off button.

I guess it will operate similar to the M3 with a long press of the play\pause button to power on\off, short press for play\pause and tapping the center of the touch strip for enter. The external button as on the M3 will be for Hold\Lock.

Yep, that top button sure does look like a "Lock" button.

I was hoping that to, since all new M3:s have the brushed alu back.

What happened to the increase in resolution?
    Still same old?

    And aspect ratio?
    Still 4:3?

    cheers!

I am very impressed with my miniplayer, and I love the dedicated play/pause button. I hope they keep it that way in the new one.

So it comes out in China late Sept, what about America?

I really want an M6 now, but how long should I hold off to see the Slim in the States?

nozem, I have to wonder, since they are using a different audio chip, that means they had to rewrite the audio code to work with it, so they may have actually fixed that. I hope the new chip is as good as or better than the current, and that they didn't cheapen it up for that... So far, the M6 has the most kickass audio quality there is, and with a 10 band EQ capability... we'll see, I guess.

Also, guess what Err0r? Anythingbutipod got their news about the M6 SL from this thread. Heh, now I'd have to really say, this site really IS the place to go for Meizu outside China. People will be getting all their Meizu news from here. :D

I'm still going to wait for the SE and see which is best to get, since I don't ever need video out, really... I have no idea how an mp3 player with an even smaller battery than now could give enough power to a video signal without a booster. And that has to include audio, too.
