Super Thin Meizu M6 in the Works
Meizu CEO revealed today in a forum post that the Meizu M6 Mini Player SE announced late 2006 is finally in progress. The M6 SE is identical to the M6 in everything except thickness, it's expected to be a mere 7mm thin - the same thickness as Meizu's most recent offering, the Music Card.
Currently, it looks as if only a 8GB version will be produced and sold at 999 CNY (approx. $130 USD) August this year.
While we're still trying to figure out whether the SE stands for Special Edition or Second Edition, Chinese Meizu fans have been speculating about the M6 SE, predicting that the SE will use the same firmware as vanilla M6, that the current 700mAh battery will be swapped for a smaller 500mAh battery and that internal wirings will need reworking.
Thanks to member xx-c for the find.

Thanked 0 Times in 0 Postshow much thin r 'thin'? 3mm ++ doesnt make a world of diffeence to me. Improvement as in the quality and features will be good...like better n stable e.g. ...n did anyone realise there typing error on the ' display- backgroud blend' (at least on my meizu) and good after sales serviceline...etc

3mm thinner is alot thinner , Its like a downgrade from the ipod video to the thiness of a nano , But i really hope they dont do any hardware upgrades or downgrades. It will be way to confusing with 3 sets of firmwares (tp,sp,se) A battery is ok because its not a proper hardware change more of a capacity change , Like the memory size .
Oh and vanilla is normal , Like icecream , the standard is considerd vanilla always
PS , that backgroud blend thing , i never noticed that , nor did anyone else i guess. but your right my one says backgroud instead of backgroundLast edited by lite; 05-23-2007 at 06:54 PM.

Thanked 0 Times in 0 Postswith the technologies now...it can go as thin as they like but at what expense. too flimsy or slim might create other problems like breakage, crack etc...i guess focus on quality first. just my humble thots.

The battery life will not be too dramatically affected , Id guess it would be bigger than the origional proposal of 20 hours so you guys shouldnt get a fit about 7 hours less battery life when you are getting 16 hours supposedly more than before

As this is Meizu's next player, I think this means that we definitely wont see a M8 before August. And with only 2 months left of Q3, it looks like the possibility of Q3 release is sketchy.

cool

so its basically an m6 with m3 thickness
great!
I dont think it will affect performance much as software tweaks and advances in hardware will compensate for the smaller battery...

I hope they put the reflective layer behind the screen to improve the view in the sun.

Other news today from Meizu BBS :
以下是引用J.Wong在2007-5-24 13:24:00的发言:
主芯片型号不一样(在目前主芯片基础上针对音频稍做优化),屏幕依然为2.41英寸,但可视角度从现在的6 0,60,55,45增加到80,80,80,80全视角。
Here is the Babelfish translation (but if a chinese-speaker could translate, it will be better :D):
Below is quotesJ.Wongin 2007-5-24 13:24:00 speech:
The main chip model is dissimilar (slightly makes optimization in present host chip foundation in view of audio frequency), the screen still is 2.41 inches, but the visible angle from the present 60, 60, 55, 45 increases to 80, 80, 80, 80 entire angles of view.
Thanks by advance !You're pretty popular this morning, Dee Dee !

It looks like the SE will have a better viewing angle.
