Firmware update rendered M6 completely inert -- please help!

My Meizu was having some stuttering problems when I try to fast forward on longer mp3 files, so I decided to update the firmware from 2.004.4 to 2.004.6. This is the first time I've ever attempted updating the firmware. I followed the instructions, the player did the "upgrading software, please wait", and turned itself off. Now it won't turn back on and attempting to connect it to my computer via USB does nothing -- the screen remains black. I'm assuming the last-resort DFU tools would be useless since the player doesn't turn on when connected to the computer and the computer doesn't react when the player is plugged in.

Hopefully someone can help me out! Thanks in advance!

eta: I pressed the >>| and play button simultaneously to attempt a reset -- the player reacted, but it's back to the "upgrading software, please wait..." screen and doing nothing else.

eta 2: Now it responds when I press on the "on" button, but it goes from the "loading..." page straight to "upgrading software, please wait..." When the "upgrading" page disappears, the player shuts down. Multiple attempts have been made, and none have yet taken me to the menu. Plugging it in to the computer yields no results still.

The last time my player froze like this (it froze on the "meizu" main screen -- I could turn it on and off, but it wouldn't take me to the menu), I got it fixed at a repair shop in China -- but I'm not in China anymore, so I don't really have that option. I'm about 5 seconds away from tossing it out and succumbing to the call of the iPod.

Your player seems to be somewhere between 'upgrading software' and 'upgrade failed', so you should try this.

Make sure to use the right firmware version for your player (you forgot to mention if it's a SP or SL model).

The player doesn't need to be turned on if you use DFU tools because your computer will see it as a 'DFU Device' if you press and hold 'Play' and 'M' buttons together while connecting to your PC.

I have an SL model. I'm not sure if I can do the low level formatting because when I press "play" and "<<", it simply goes to the "upgrading software" screen.

I tried the DFU tools yesterday and followed the instructions for the SL, but I got a "Renumeration failed" pop-up at the end. And when I gave up and unplugged the player from my PC, it caused my PC to have a hardware error (blue screen and everything), which makes me reluctant to attempt the DFU tools again.
