Wishlist for Firmware 2.002

Hi,

i thought i oughto start a new wishlist, so, I did :D...

wishes;

- the player should automatically adjust the soundlevel of songs, so they are constant, lets say you have one very loud song and one very, "quiet" i would want the songs to, be the same soundlevel depending on which song i play, may it be the loud one, or the quiet one, if you understand what i mean...

if I choose lets say, 15, both songs should be played at 15, and no need so either increase/decrease sound level should be necassary

- my player cant lowlevel-format after installed 2.000.1, not even if i downgrade, that needs attention...

Adjusted bass in eq should not screw up when i use volume more then 33 or 32 or even 25 for some realy songs with realy long deep bass ...

i understand what you mean. but there's no need to have this in the firmware as there's a program that can adjust your music file's volume level for you. check this out.

now, as for my wishlist...

(1) auto shut-down time should be user adjustable. i'm talking about the auto shut-down when the m6 is paused and not the sleep timer. it gets a bit irritating sometimes when i just paused my m6 for a bit to answer a phone call or refill my mug and come back to find the player off.

(2) OTG. no explanations necessary here.

(3) on-board skin viewer. it would be way easier for users to choose a skin of their choice and change skins on the go if there was an on board skin viewer. at the moment, it's a bit of a hassle to load a skin and see how it looks and change it again if you don't like it.

(4) option to automatically update the music library or not. in the new firmware, the music library is automatically updated everytime you unplug the usb from the player, which takes quite a bit of time. it would be better if the player would instead ask you if you want to update or not upon unplugging the usb.

(5) search function. i'm not sure how this would be implemented, but i thought it would be nice to be able to search through the music library, instead of having to scroll through ALL the files to find the one you're looking for.

that's about it for now. will add more if i think of any. :D

edit: ok, i'm just copying most of error's post but here you go. :D

(6) browse all music by an artist. as several people has posted, playing all songs by an artist is supported but not browsing.

(7) animated GIF support. just because it would be cool to have moving backgrounds.

(8) more/better games. by this i mean games that would be easier to play using the m6 touchstrip.

(9) set reminders in calendar. right now the calendar is just... there. it would be nice to be able to set little reminders for mundane stuff like tv and radio schedules, etc.

(10) browse/play by genre/mood.

(11) screen rotation. it would be a big help for lefties if the m6 would support the ability to rotate the screen.

edit 2: one more addition!

(12) shorter startup time. right now it takes a few seconds for the player to boot completely.

1. The ability to play "All Songs" from a certain artist.
2. OTG support.
3. Animated GIF support.
4. Flash support.

The firmware is pretty mature the way it is in my opinion.

- Unicode for languages, tags and txt files.
- Bigger album arts
- View of the number of albums songs
- More games

And please, a SDK so we can edit the firmware and let the community do its own stuffs for everyone, it really would be awesome !

FIX BUGS:

- Fix music bar when you use FFWD or REW in audio mode (in video mode work very good)

-Voice recordings works properly in low, middle or high quality. But FM recording in high quality with the last firmware 2001.1 doesn't works very well, it plays at more speed.

-Fix blend for album art and graphic EQ. When you have a high blend , album art is semi-trasnparent (it would be better to be opaque), what you can fix if you put low blend. Nevertheless, graphic EQ works works in the opposite way: the more blend you choose, the more opaque is, and if you choose low blend, EQ become invisible.


IMPROVEMENTS


- Album art improved: bigger album art (maybe 100x100pix) and possibility of expand (as other players like sansa serie 200, samsung z5f, etc) (it would be great if you could expand to a 200x200pix, as sansa). And a better way to put album art in MSC mode (like other players: put a jpg in a folder to put album art to all songs in this folders).

-I wish you can choose your albums by album art (as in creative zen vision m)

-Same controls for audio and video

-Auto shut down time user adjustable

-More languages

-Time record for fm radio? (it could be possible?)

-I only can choose Idtags by Artist, song or album. But ...Why not by genre?(as most of players)

-Rate your songs (Was it possible in older firmwares?)

-Option to automatically update the music library or not.

-You can set one photo or your choice as the meizu wallpaper, OK, and you can even set the wallpaper for music menu, radio menu, recordings menu or ebook menu. Nevertheless, when I enter into each menu, I always see the same wallpaper until I play a song, listen to the radio or record something . By example, I set a blue wallpaper for music, a red one for radio and a green one for recordings. I always see the blue wallpaper (in main menu and when i play a song) until i start to listen fm radio (then it changes to red) and it stays in main menu and in every menu of the player until I play a song again, and so on. I think it would be better that you can set (by example) a yellow wallpaper for main menu, blue for music, red for radio or green for recordings, and just when you enter into music menu (all song, playlist, artist, albums, etc) you can see the wallpaper of your choice even if you don't play any song, and so on (you can see the radio menu wallpaper even if you don't listen any station,etc)

lyrics support (the lyrics which you can add into the mp3 tag). The Windows MediaPlayer and the iPods support that.
The nice thing is that the lyrics are shown in the same speed as the song is playing. A new row of the text appears at the right time (you can easily adjust that in the WMP11 if the automatic detection fails).

I thought the m6 already had support for that? atleast im sure ive seen a guide that talks about it... hmm

more suggestions

1. Browse Music (albums) by album art!
2. When browsing by Artist and Artist have only one album then jump directly(or automatically) to it and don't display album title and have user to manually "click" it
3. also i think it will be in, but i write it here too - read album art from tag, read album art from folder.jpg, and read album art no mater how deep album is in directory structure, read album art from <artist> - <album>.jpg and <artist>-<album>.jpg and <artist>_-_<album>.jpg and read it when filename have _ while there are spaces in tag and vice versa etc.
4. and of course play any video file encoded in any quality any bit rate and any codec and any in size and any fps etc. on this slow chip that is in m6 also with support for external subtitles audio stream switching and capability to play back copied dvds to player (you know video_ts folder ...) ((:

There already is lyrics support. Put the file (don't know which format) with the SAME name as the mp3, ogg or flac file in the same directory and it should start showing when you play the song. I've tried (1.010) and it worked.

Isn't that already possible? Or did I missunderstand you? Don't you just browse by 'Artist' and press play when you reach the right one. Plays all albums for that artist.

Wow, didn't realize that. Well, it would be nice to browse "All Songs" by a certain artist too.

Missed that to.

Used to hold down the enter button, to and the songs to the playlist, then go to the playlist, there you can browse and play them.

Fix Bug:
Correct the gamma/contrast when plaing videos. (looks ok when you fast forward. But not in playmode)

Feature Request:
Add music codec for mod/xm/s3m/sid.

Hmm, as already stated: Same controls for video as for audio.
Crossfeed/binaural functionality, as with the old SRS WOW:

SRS HeadphoneTM
SRS Headphone repositions the sound from inside the listener's head to outside the listener's ears for a natural, non fatiguing 3D sound experience.

Larger Album art would be nice, replaygain support in tags too. Maybe displaying VBR as the bitrate for VBRs?

My top wishes:

- fix the few remaining bugs with playing mp3s. (these have been talked about extensively here - I'm talking about problems with repeating the last second of a song a few times, though much improved in the new firmware, it still happens sometimes).

- browsing by genre (this is very high on my list, and I'm happy to see I'm not the only one here)

- larger album artwork

- (OF COURSE) user changeable shutdown time (see the poll elsewhere).

- make the video function easier to use (by releasing software that works, and by allowing the m6 to handle files with less problems)

there is a lyric function, but it isn't as good and easy as it could be! For example you need an additional file.
As I mentioned, you can include the whole lyrics in an mp3 file and it is also possible that only the part of the text you listen to at the moment is shown on the player.
This is very handy for things like a language learning podcast!
