Personally I find using the Albums folder the most useful. I have placed all my correctly renamed and resized album art into it and then using Shuffler I can set it to load 2GB of randomly selected music files from my music library. The files are transfered preserving the original folder structure and all album art is displayed perfectly. As I add new music to my library I just add the new album art to the Albums folder.
Shuffler can be downloaded here: http://www.shrum.net/cats.php?dir=/code/shuffler

@ Iverson, yes, the 2.00.1.1 firmware has fixed up playback from subfolders. Unfortunately, photo transitions are still very unsmooth.

well, that would be great, but the current method is still much better than before. Just the additional step of renaming the cover pic and then the id3 tags. Not more than a 30sec job for each album

But why bother doing these extra steps as most people would prefer the more traditional album art approach of searching for folder.jpg/cover.jpg or better yet the album art embedded into the ID3 tag.

well, embedded album art does take up more space. remember, the album art is added to every song in the album.

I'm just saying we should be grateful they simplified the previous arcane method of getting album art to show. Of course, improvement is always welcomed, but keep in mind, they didn't have to implement album art. It's a bonus.

Is it me or do people these days have no patience of reading the posts before shooting off a reply?

Oh brother ... I had already acknowledged that fact inside the brackets, highlighted in bold. Therefore the post you made right after made no sense since it was just a restatement of what i had already acknowledged.

But nevermind . I guess the current method is suitable for all that is why Meizu chose to enable album art in the "album.jpg" way. A 30 second job indeed, but it is a pain having to do so for every album.

    Haha yeah i get you.
Well i have kinda accepted it now, il just rename them all as i add them.
I hope they work on the representation and layout though, like something similar to my photoshoped pic in the "tripple tapping the middle"-thread.

    Hi there all,
Sorry, im still a bit confused - just to clarify two things...

1/ you have to create a folder called Album, and then put the folder with the music in that?

2/ at the end of the name of the album, ie in your example, "Smash" you have to add the word Album? Seems very weird.

    Thanks!

I really hope Meizu sort this out, its very messy, small, limited, unnecessarily difficult.

    Thanks,
    Mark

    You understood correctly.

But this does not work any more with firmware 2.001.1, with which you just have to name your cover after the id3 tag of the album.

Kennyboy, thanks for the tip on how to implement the album art!

I must say, i completely disagree with your quote above - its like saying upholstery or a radio in a car is a bonus. You try selling a car which has hard plastic seats and no radio or cd player. In a competitive market these are basic requirements which people, the market, expects. Album art is expected, the fact it wasn't there, and still isnt properly, was a major flaw.

anyhow, thanks again for the tip.

gotcha, ive just upgraded to 2.001.1. and am using Kennyboy's procedure.

Meizu seem to be a little up the spout. They get a bunch of people to say they are intested in firmware testing, then when they do, there is absolutely NO contact. To the point that I didnt even know there was an update till today when I visited this site... NONE of my suggestions have been commented on, there has been no acknowledgement of their receipt. I know they are off 14-25 feb, but most my correspondence was before that.

Anyhow, im glad for the limited cover art, albeit with work arounds, tiny image and only one image.

    See you later

    Omg.

Omg, i am SO confused. I just upgraded my M6 to version 2.001.1, and this topic says that you can use ONE album art on ALL the songs in the album, right? Yeah, I can copy and paste the exact names of MP3 and the .jpg, but that will take a long time and it will take up space. I'm really confused, can someone PLEASE,in detail, explain to me. You guys are confusing me with ID3 tags and folders. What are ID3 tags? I use the RealPlayer to upload the songs onto the M6. I use properties and adjust the names and albums of the MP3 file, are those called ID3 tags? Anyways, My Artists' names are in chinese, and the album is in english, will that be a problem?

Omg, I'm so frustrated. How do you do this? Create a folder???

Okay, this is what I've tried.

Made my .jpg image>miniPlayer>Flash Media(ROOT!?)>Pasted my .jpg image>Made my .jpg filename same as .MP3 filename (Ex: Leehom.jpg, Leehom.mp3)>Yeah, it works, but only for ONE file.

What I want is, how can I use Leehom.jpg (One album art) for all the songs in the album, only using just ONE album art?

I don't wanna keep copy and pasting for hundreds of songs, just for the album art, and I'll be wasting a lot of memory.

Please help, I'm desperate and frustrated....

nah...my point is, you bought the m6 without album art support. so the implementation of it here is a bonus. I have faith that meizu will make the implementation better, but no one should take it for granted that they HAVE to do it.

i think our instructions are pretty clear. Don't use realplayer to load songs. That's for people who don't know how to copy files into a flash drive.

ok. for example the album name is Hero. so put your songs in

E:\MUSIC\Hero\ <---this can be another title..no need to be same as album name.

select the songs, right click, properties, summary, advanced. Under album title enter "Hero" without the quotes.

Then, put your cover-art inside. rename it Hero.jpg.

    Then it will work.

No, it doesn't work. Just to let you know: I updated my M6 to version 2.001.1, if you didn't read.

    Would you PLEASE calm down!!!

Its clear you cant get it to work so just relax until Meizu release an updated firmware that will obtain album art through more traditional means as I and others have already outlined.

Yes, smarty pants, we've read. And it works for us. Maybe you should go for a cold shower.

Some people just don't deserve any form of assistance.

i for one don't use album art. heck, most of my songs don't even have tags for the albums, only the title and artist are properly tagged on all my songs. but it's still nice to have this feature for those who want it. so just to summarize, here's what i would recommend, from my experience on displaying album art in the m6.

    (1) the filename of the picture has to be the same as the album tag in your songs. this includes any spaces or punctuation marks. however, capitalization seems to be ignored so no need to properly capitalize your album art, if you don't want to. :D

    (2) the picture has to be put inside the folder containing the songs. so for example, the music file is inside MUSIC/English folder, then the picture has to be inside the MUSIC/English folder as well. i'm not sure if it will work if you put it inside MUSIC/English/<subfolder> as i haven't tried it that way.

    (3) and lastly, (actually, this should have been the first :D) make sure that your music are all properly tagged.

    have fun!
