WMP 11 and Album Art

Using the new firmware, I tried switching the M6 into MTP mode and using Windows Media Player 11 to sync, and something strange happened.

1. Album art now shows, but only on some albums even though I have album art on all of them in WMP. There are no hidden files with images either, this means album art was "injected" into the MP3-files.

2. Folders now work. WMP organizes everything into folders, and it works. Folders did not work for me in MSC mode.

I really enjoy Album Art, and hope someone could figure out this mystery.

I've tried using bigger images and it works (MSC mode)... I think the size is not the problem!

Same for me, some albums have art, others don't. Not sure what the problem is.

MTP is not steadily,USB mode is easy to use.f
irst, use TTPLAYER to edit song's id3,fix the album name, make all song's album name to same,(can in beach?批量),second, find a image(JPG),copy to the fold of the album, and rename as album name, and Album image can be shown .

After having lots of trouble with album art, I thought I'd give MTP a go via Media Player 11. However, I am having just as much trouble with it. Media Player freezes on syncing, which appears to be random, although the files it does manage to sync show album art, so that's a good in a way! I have tried using J River Media Center too, but that can't even format the device and syncing results in errors for all files. I'm getting to the point where I might just go back to MSC mode and drag and drop and forget about album art!

Happens to me too...

MTP Mode hangs my WMP. Whatever and whenever it synchronizes it does syncs album art without any further action (schweet!)

I also noticed that WMP creates a .PLA (?) file in the player's Playlist directory. I wonder if this is a temp file that would end up as a .m3u?

I'm back on MSC mode until further notice. I made WMP re-scan the music database, just in case.

It seems to me that MTP is a little bit half cooked in firmware 2.001.1.

Any others out there with the same problems?

UPDATE: I noticed something odd. This is the way I've set up my sync with WMP: I have a normal Playlist in which I place my podcasts (not all of them show up on a smart playlist). Then I have a Smart Music Mix playlist (Random Items, up to 1.8GB of disk usage). I cancelled a sync, switched the M6 to MSC mode and synced again. No problems. Remember that .pla file I mentioned earlier? There were two songs there, and only two.

I wonder then, could this behavior be related to the way MTP mode in the player interacts with Playlists in WMP?

I'll make a simple experiment, but not today. (tired). I'll set up two normal playlists (not smart) to sync to the M6 in MTP mode. I'll transfer whatever is in the lists into the player. I have a hunch.

Curse my geekness...

No dice. WMP stops synchronizing with the player at 10% then stops. WMP itself doesn't hang.

I don't think that the problem is with WMP (for once). I'm sure there's something in the firmware itself.

Anyone else has tried something new lately? I've been off the forums because of OpenDNS.

What are .ALB files... and it seems that none of the album art WMP puts on my miniplayer works
using v2.002.3
And why does WMP add a albums folder?

I used WMP to sync my files and it created an Albums folder with my album art in it but all the files had the .alb extension and the album art did not show. I simply changed the .alb to .jpg and now my album art works just fine.

If you have both the .jpg and .alb files in the Albums folder just delete the .alb files. Then update your music library and it should work.

I'm also having the problem in MTP mode where WMP11 transfers a few files and then hangs. Has anyone found a workaround? MSC mode works fine, but then I don't get the album art. Do other MTP programs have the same hanging problem with the M6 as WMP11?

i have been using mtp for a month with windows media player and it works great all album art displays perfect.

when meizu came out with 2.002.3 it only talked about windows media player 10 not 11. i had 11 loaded and all transfered great and the art worked fine but after loading i could not transfer pictures and video to the unit it shows the files copying when i dragged and dropped them but they were no where to be found.

i then went back to windows media player 10 and all worked fine. my pictures and videos could then be dragged and dropped with no problem.

when transferring with windows make sure you dont transfer your windows playlists they wont work and may be causing your problems. it shows the playlists by name and it shows the songs in the playlist but if you try to play it will lock up your unit. (especially with long windows playlists) i would only copy "all music" and thats it.

another thing you should do is make sure windows media player applied their album art. i would go to the songs missing the art and have wmp find the art again and reapply.

it seems playlist problems are present in windows and also when you make a running playlist from unit. the unit playlist works great no matter how long but when you make it into a permanent playlist "playlist 1" etc it will lock up again like the windows problem. this seems to happen if the list is larger than 20 songs...

hope this helps ...

I noticed album art working for some albums but not others as well. After staring at the computer monitor, a difference in file (tag?) names became apparent. Only the albums/directories appended with my ALAC text had working album art.

The nomenclature I use to distinguish lossless from lossy compressed files is to edit all album names in iTunes to show ALAC or MP3. This allows me to use iTunes' Smartlist features for synching my iPod and/or Shuffles. iTunes edits the computer folder names when doing this when set to automatically organize. During conversion to FLAC (which I play on the M6) the tags of course keep the 'ALAC' appended text as it's copied over. I simply made sure the tags reflected the *ALAC syntax, as well as the jpgs and it worked. Guessed that something was embedded from iTunes that was invisible to the naked eye...or, hell I don't know, but it worked.

Probably doesn't help but might suggest a suspect.
