Thanked 0 Times in 0 PostsSo...why update the firmware?
Update Firmware is always step one after you get something out of the box these days, but my question is this: Why should I update my firmware when I get my meizu?
I;ve read enough about people getting stuck trying to patch firmware, and my brother's meizu works just fine out of the box.
So why should I risk updating?
Does the latest firmware add new features or fix major problems?
If new features have been added, then what has been added or removed since it first came out?
Not trying to be confrontational, I'm just curious about what's different and what makes it worth it

Thanked 0 Times in 0 PostsDon't worry :D the most irritating problems are supposedly still there
New features are added sometimes, but it's nothing really major that the average mp3 user is going to notice. I just do it for the sake of having the latest fw
If you want easy and nice covers for your mp3's etc you should have buyed an iPod in the first place. If you've buyed your m6 recently, so will the firmware be.ZTE Blade

the new m6 are coming with firmware 2.003.2, i dont think u really have to update if u get that one but if its before that, u seriously have to update. As for me, i have to update to the latest firmware version because battery lasts longer to me and a charging battery problem which they say has been fixed has been fixed 4 ME.
if the firmware version is before 2.003.2, i dont think album art is supported.
Overall, alot of bugs has been fixed.
N.B. If you are going to use skins, i think u should update. Thats just my opinion.R.W.

Thanked 0 Times in 0 PostsHaha, i'm supposed to pass and recieve my IB degree this year :D
I should be able to produce readable text :P
I meant that if someone wants to use albumcovers a lot for their music and wants to do that easily, you should just buy an iPod.
It's far from user-friendly on the m6.
The firmware story is the same as roryrudi wrote. If you bought your player recently, the firmware will be just fine.ZTE Blade

Thanked 0 Times in 0 PostsThanks for the clarification.
I don't really care about album covers, so that's no big deal, I suppose.
I bought a meizu because it has a bigger screen, a lower price and more features than the ipod.
I'm just worried because most of the reviews I;ve read (like from cnet) were for older models, before they even had 8gb versions.
It'd suck if some of the features they mentioned were removed or something.

trust me the one you get with the box (which is supposedly 2003.2b) is the best...after that firmware version the "updates" are very irrelevant in making the m6 a better mp3 player.....plus if you're thinking of using different skins this version has the most skins available
....don't believe me? just check this out.....

he can simply convert skins from 2.003.2 to the latest but not easy in the reverse. Skins are making for the latest firmware now.

umm i should've said "version 2.003.2 has the most ready-made skins available"....and also you can convert the latest skins to 2.003.2...its just that you have to change the size of the selection bar thing....well anyways my point is that the guy is new...chances are he won't care for converting and such things...so i simply suggested him to stick with the 2.003.2 version...its the most stable version of all firmwares arguably....i mean come on the last few fw updates have been well...pathetic...

Thanked 0 Times in 0 Postsi had 2.004.6 for a week, now i downgraded to 2.003.2, and its great! its so much faster i could not beleive it!! i had to wait almost 5 minutes for the music library update, and now its 1-2 instead of 5 minutes! so: new firmware is not always a good idea...
