Im also having problems with my Mac and m6. Connecting my M6SP to my work mac (Leopard 10.5.4) deletes all my music from the player and for some reason adds bugs to my player where it freezes on manual and auto shutdown. I had to format the player 2 times already. It works great with Tiger 10.4 tho. So for people with FW 2.003.2 beware.

Oh, that's a good point!! I forgot to note that I'm using the very latest M6SP firmware (2.004.6) and the latest system software for OS X.

I've been searching for a workaround since my first post nearly four weeks ago and so far the only solution is not to connect the M6 to the MacBook.

OK, I'm back!

In case you haven't found the thread, Wbdsgnr has discovered the key to using the M6SP on OS X; I've confirmed that it works on 10.5.4 and I haven't had any problems with it for a couple of weeks now.
