Song Sorting

Hello,

I just got an M6 today, and am pretty pleased with it thus far. I've upgraded to the latest firmware.

Anyway, I uploaded some of my library to the M6. I've noticed that while browsing albums, the songs are not ordered correctly--they are ordered lexicographically by the song title, while they should be ordered according to track number. The songs are tagged correctly, and the M6 does extract the tag information.

I've noticed this is only the case for my ogg albums--the albums encoded with mp3 are sorted by track properly.

Has anyone encountered this? If so, does anyone know how to remedy this?

Thank you,
Mike

Hi, Welcome to MeizuMe, and congratulations on your first M6 purchase. To answer your question, there should be a sort menu when you go into the Music menu. You should be able to sort by Track, Filename, Artist and Album. I hope this solves your problem.

Hi!

Thanks for the reply. I looked in the "Song Order" menu, I don't have the "track" option. Rather, the options I see are: title, filename, artist, album.

I have installed the latest firmware (2.004.3). I have also tried selecting the filename ordering, which should work for my files since I prefix them with the track number ("01 - Question.ogg", for example). However, the songs are still sorted by song title.

I figure that I must be doing something wrong, since I haven't read anyone else having the same kind of problem . Any insight would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Mike

Although I do not use .ogg format I noticed in another forum that Cowon D2 users have the same problem and overcome it by numbering the track titles (01 Speak To Me, 02 Breathin, 03 On The Run....) within the tags.

there are 2 ways to solve this :
- sort by "Album" : songs get sorted by the id3 tag "Track Number"
- sort by "Filename" : use the track number in the filename (this is standard for a lot of people anyway)
I am using only ogg vorbis since I found out that it sounds better than mp3, and there is also no end of song stuttering with oggs on the M6.

The ordering is fine in the browser menu. However, I'd still much rather browse my music in the "normal" fashion.

This issue of song ordered alphabetically within albums is another problem that Meizu simply ignore... as it is other that you will realize soon .

This is related with a deficient managing of ID3 by Meizu software.

Meizu owners that wants to use Menu options have to do a couple of works when an album is added to the player in order to make it play and look nicely.

1. To add #track in name field of tag. Then if song #7 is "Hotel California" it becomes "07 Hotel California" in tag fields, keeping 0 in front to not be confused with songs above 10.

2. To extract cover art and put it in album folder or a special folder named \ALBUMS. There are lots of topics here discussing this point.

For long time here and also in Chinese BBS this topic have been discussed with no reaction by Meizu.

Well, that's a bit disappointing. I'm pretty happy with the player thus far, aside from this issue. Hopefully Meizu will fix this issue sometime, or some RockBox firmware will emerge for the M6. Well, thanks for all the replies, everyone!

Cheers,
Mike
