M6 SP\TP 2.004.3 Official Release

02\11\07: An official version of 2.004.3 was released today on the Chinese Meizu site.

Change Log:

1. Supports version 3.95 - 3.99 encoded .ape files.
2. Corrected problem with time display on MP3 VBR encoded files. (This may include a fix for the end of song stutter but no specific mention of it as there is with the new M3 firmware.)
3. Added return to all menus.
4. Added large typeface to selection bar.

If you are updating from 2.003 or earlier versions this will format your player during install so be sure to backup any data you want. After the format you will need to copy the resource.bin to the player, disconnect and restart.

As this is the Chinese version it will set language to Chinese as default. To change back to English got Menu-10 Down to Settings -7 down to Language.

EDIT: English Version now available HERE
These versions also appear to be 2.004.4
Thanks "Hendrick"

Hmm... My photo library is still broken, I have folders inside the default pictures/photo folder so maybe thats the problem (Although previous firmware versions do not have this problem) Edit: Well its not entirely broken, but it does take 30 seconds for the image to load.. which is quite slow.
Edit 2: Fixed, an incompatible image file was in the pictures folder (silly me!) it works and loads perfectly fine now! =)

Other things to note:
1. Hissing is still there (possibly a hardware issue)
2. Poorly encoded MP3's will still make that 2 killer noises at the end of the song
3. VBR times have been fixed (This was a problem in the TEST release of 2004.3)

This is a joke ? I wish it was. I find it highly unsatisfying that NONE of the major evaluated problems have been solved. And what is the difference to the former test version anyway ?
If Meizu does not fix the problems until mid of 2008 I will never buy a Meizu product again (because that will be the time where state of the art players will outrun the M6 in video quality and memory size).

What's wrong with the video quality? :D It's fine with me. ;P of the evaluated problems I have only ever come across 2: Audio delay in video's which can be overcome, hissing which is unsolvable by firmware (originates from the components hindering the DAC) It seems to be a minority having stuttering problems, although that should be fixed.

I'm updating to this new firmware today

Thanks for letting us know Madman.

mfb I agree with you about the video quality. When the encoding software is set up correctly, the resulting video is excellent.

And, touch wood, my M6 as never stuttered. YAY for me :-)

c'mon guys, do I really need to list the obvious unsolved problems again ? This has been discussed so many times.
- video goes out of sync after a couple of minutes, no matter what converter you are using. This is a firmware issue and nothing else. The offset resets as soon as you press FF or RW for a moment.
- file limits (128 per artist and the global file limit)
- empty sub folder problem

and the video quality is all but great. 20 fps is 5 fps less than standard, and even the 20 fps smear and tear in high action scenes.
This does not mean that I don't like my M6. But I can't believe that they care for stuff that nobody needs like menu return or large selection font while there are so many unsolved issues - which were reported for months without any kind of feedback from Meizu. They ignore their customers, that's what I conclude.

...and customers have allready started to ignore Meizu! You will see that this company will play every day a smaller role on the market.
