    Playlist Bugs?

Does anyone else have this problem?
I created a playlist from the miniplayer. When I saved it as a playlist & tried to play it, it froze the M6. (SP 8g version S 2003.2)

I restarted it several times, but trying to play the playlist still froze the m6.
I finally gave up on this and deleted the playlist.

Also, under playlist, the top menu bar scrolls some language other than English across it.

This has been discussed in many places - Playlist don't work for beans on the M6(although some people get it to work with fiddling) I use WMP11 and could never get it working - Was kind of hoping the next firmware will actually work correctly with WMP11. This is the reason why Meizu will never a force in the mp3 player market. Great Hardware with a lot of features, just can't develop the firmware that does what it supposed to do. My three biggest gripes about the Minplayer are:

Album Art does not work correctly
    Playlist dont work
Song list within Albums are not in order

I consider these basic functionality items - Now with the possibility that the next firmware will be the last one designed for the Miniplayer by Meizu, I feel they are leaving us all high and dry.

You guys need to learn how to work your M6 more.

    Album art works perfectly.
Playlist works perfectly, just takes time to load if you have a lot of songs on one single playlist.
Song list within Albums I don't know, but mine seems to be in order, so why shouldn't yours?

    Stop complaining and more enjoying.

I am enjoying my M6 right now.
I will try to make a playlist again, but this time I think I'll pencil it down in case something happens to it.
Creating a playlist is artistic, and I lost a really good one once because I hooked it to the computer before saving it.
My album art works perfectly. One thing I like to do is add a "best of" album into my miniplayer then add original released album covers for each song. It's fun to have different images come up for each song, and it is also fun to look at the history in album covers for any given band. I use google image search for this then use the folder, song, image with same title routine.
The best thing I like about the miniplayer is that one is challenged to create then solve one's own problems.

If you think it works perfectly you are the only one - Just do a search in this forum on "album art" and "playlists" and you will see that there are numerous threads of people having problems. Some of my albums have the correct song list and others don't and remember looking into it a few months back and discovering it was a common problem(Something to do with the M6 not properly reading tags on a certain format - I gave up on it). It does not work in Windows Media Player 11 as its supposed to - Now I know there are workarounds and some people have had limited success with Winamp and Media Monkey(And I have tried both),but that doesn't mean Meizu doesn't owe it to their customers to get it to work with the most common media player in the industry(WMP11). And the video syncing issue makes video playback useless.

Great hardware, just poor execution. Now I hope with this new firmware being released that I will stand corrected - If not, I will be ebaying it(8gb M6) or giving it to my 7 year old

I have found that by editing the Track Number ID3 Tags for each song of an album, my M6 always plays them in the correct order.

I would've thought that's the first thing everyone does, is to organize their ID3 tags in withe mp3's. Thanks for bringing that up bonenut. aquatint, have you tried that?

I've not had any problems with the order of songs on my albums at all. If there's a song I don't like in any album, I simply delete it. Even though I have 8 gigs to fill, I automatically work to save space (and time browsing).
I have entered cd's that I've mixed and understand how to trick the miniplayer into sorting these in a single album. I just give each track the album title of my mix. I use the latest version of media player. So far, it works for me. I've also tried FLAC files but don't really see the point and stopped. Since I mostly use the mediaplayer to hear music, I use it to make playlists. I enjoy having a different album cover for each song.
Oops!, I meant to say I mostly use the miniplayer, not mediaplayer.

ID3 tags pertain to MP3s, not WMA(Windows Media) format, which uses a proprietary Microsoft tagging format, which is the format I use. It is another glitch with Meizus incompatibility with Windows Media Player- I guess they didn't pass the "Plays For Sure" test completely - It plas and displays WMA info, just meses up your song orders.

I haven't got the heart to reencode 40Gbs worth of music on my desktop just due to Meizus incompatibilites - Hopefully the new firmware will address this issue, along with the others mentioned here. It is said that the new firmware should be out within a week.

    We'll see.

It freezes with mp3 as well. Restarting it is a natural reaction. Few people in their right mind would expect the device to lock up for no apparent reason.

The thing is, the playlist option is just very very slow. Even with relatively few items in the playlist it goes on a sabbatical without any indication that it will be coming back. Mine shows garbage at the top of the screen, too.

Despite what has been said, the playlist does not work perfectly. It is bugged. I doubt it was designed to take an inordinate length of time to update, therefore it is a bug, not a feature.

Also, I hear that we are supposed to enjoy bugs rather than complain about them. I wonder if the person who said that, if on ordering a meal in a restaurant would enjoy finding a cockroach in their salad and I wonder how they would respond if they were told to just eat around it.

Playlists do work but long playlists are practically unusable. It took my M6 about 15 minutes to load a playlist with 1000 songs. I don't know what they are doing there but this is annoying. However I only use long playlists like this to shuffle over all songs except for some albums (like classical music) so I ended up organizing my music in folders (like Shuffle, NoShuffle) and then play those folders. This still takes a couple of seconds to start but is still much faster. It would be much nicer, though if they could fix it. I guess the parsing of the files takes so long so they could make binary playlists and offer some way to convert m3u to binary on the PC.

It should be instant. It's just poor design. A 1000 file playlist should take the same time to start as a 10 file playlist. Some table must be being built which should have been built incrementally as you add each entry, but is instead being built all in one go. This still doesn't go very far in explaining what takes it sooooo... long. The Update Music Library function is essentially building a playlist. There's no difference, except one does it in the time you would expect and the other is inexplicably slow.

How to create playlist with the same songs within? Read below...

    I.e.:
    1. First song
    2. Second song
    3. First song
    4. First song
    5. First song
    6. Second song
    ....etc.

Meizu shows this playlist as follows:

    1. First song
    2. Second song

That's it. And plays ONLY 2 songs (!). Great.
Where are the repeated "First song" and "Second song"?!
    That is unforgiven bug...

I'm amazed that someone can keep 40 gigabites worth of music on one's desktop. I use a 120gig portable hard drive to store my music. You must have a powerful computer!

40gbs on a desktop computer is nothing these days, especially with 500gb external drives being under $150 now. Now everybody's building HTPC (Home theater PCS) and archiving DVDs and such, but for that use you need 1 Terabite minimum

Wow! I must be under the "Old School" idea that files should be regularly tucked away onto something besides the computer: pen drive, cd, portable hard drive, etc.; and leaving too many files on your computer without "sweeping up" regulary turns it into a "garbage can heaping with trash" which leaves one with a messy desktop and only slows down your computer. I guess these ideas are not necessary anymore due to the Terabite Titanic computers. Well, I still have an older, smaller computer which I have to keep clean.
Thanks for the info, Guitar 1969!

If your running a Home theater PC, the music files have to be accessible to stream through your system, so an unconnected portable drive, won't work. Obviously you wouldn't want to mix the data with the oper system files, so you house it on a separate connected drive.
