Please help with the font import tool!

I've read madman's explanation but I'm still confused about how to go from extracting the software to actually getting the fonts on my player. Do I copy the file to the m6 directory as well as my C: drive? I just need someone to walk me slowly through it all in lay-man's terms please help a meizu brotha out!

You should really post this inside the font tool thread as it doesn't need it's own topic.

What the font tool does: You get the firmware update you want to use on your player. For example, S2.003 for an SP type player (look on the back for either TP or SP, get the right firmware, SEARCH the forums about it). If you know what version of firmware your player has right now, download that same version of firmware again, or get the zip file with it if you still have it on your computer.

When you extract the firmware zip file, you have M6.EBN, and resource.bin. Those are the only 2 files for firmware updating. If you know what version firmware your player has, you do not need to worry about using the M6.EBN. You can just take the resource.bin. When you use the font tool, you use it on the resource.bin file you will be putting onto the player. AFTER you patch the resource.bin file with the font you want to use, you can put it on your player into the main directory outside the folders the M6 has on it, not inside them. This is only if you know what version the firmware is already, and do not need or want to do a firmware update.

If you do not know what version of firmware your player has, you should download the most recent version of firmware, as some firmware updates might not allow you to go backwards to a lower version of firmware. (anyone confirm?). After you get the latest firmware, extract it and use the font tool to patch the resource.bin file just as described. Then, first, update your firmware by placing both files into the main directory of the M6, outside those folders. After you unplug, turn it off, and turn it back on, the player will say it is updating the firmware. Then it will tell you the resources are missing, so plug the player back into the usb cable and transfer the same resource.bin file onto it a second time. Unplug the cable, turn it off, and turn it back on again, and it will finish updating. You should have a new font.

Look through and read the thread more for instructions on how to patch the resource.bin file with a new font. I haven't used it yet, with no M6 to try it on, so I could only answer the question about what to do with the resource.bin file.

Here is a step-by-step guide of how to get the font import tool to work. There are more efficient ways of doing it, but this is the most straight forward and easy.

1) Download the .rar file.
2) Make a folder in your C:\ drive named "anything you want".
3) Extract the contents of the .rar file into that new folder.
4) Find whatever resource.bin file that you want to use, and drag and drop it into the "anything you want" folder that you have made. (Now there are three files in that folder).
5) Open the "font.txt" file, and put the name of whatever font you want on the top line. Save and close.
6) Click start menu, the click Run. Type in "cmd".

7) Type "cd C:\". Press enter.
8) Type "cd anything you want". Press enter.
9) Type "m6_font_import.exe resource.bin font.txt out.bin". Press enter.
10) A new file has appeared in your new folder called "out.bin".
11) Drag that new file into the root directory of your M6 (the one with all 'music' 'video' 'photo' and other folders).
12) Once on your M6, rename the file to "resource" instead of "out".
13) Disconnect.
14) Restart the player.

Oh, I didn't know it created a new file with the output... Haven't read because I don't have anything to try it on yet. :P

OK, then follow liquid's instructions... or mine and using the out.bin file instead when you put the resources into the root directory, and rename out.bin to resource.bin after you move it there. Follow liquid's instructions, though.
