I also agree that opening up the source would be a great way to allow the community to help out in the process of fixing bugs. I think an email campagin might be a good way to try and show our interest in this. I'm going to hold off tho until I see the next release of firmware thats suppose to come out next month.

Cool, so is it confirmed that the new firmware for M6 is coming out next month.
If so, then lets hope the two engineers have fixed some major bugs

Did they fix any of the issues that I mentioned in a previous thread...these to be exact.
1.) The most annoying thing of all is the "end of song stutter" that someone mentioned here before. It's so annoying! You listen to a whole song with no problems at all, then all of the sudden towards the end you get choppyness which adds like 10 extra seconds to the song before the next one comes.
2.) Get rid of the library update lol
    3.) Better album art support!
4.) Itunes support. With my psp I can drag the song with album art from itunes to the psp and they show up with the album art. With the Meizu...you just get the song and no album art :/
    5.) More video formats
6.) Smoother fonts and more colors if possible
7.) More default background selections I guess

If they didn't fix any of those...then it's not worth upgrading to me.

Two devs, one month? ...hell, they have time enough to fix all problems, arrive late to work, rest after lunch.... tons of things.

Don't get me wrong, Im PM on several dev projects and looking at the time is taking them to come up with an update, they could come back with a new core and all working as it should... just my two cents.
Internet has an answer for every question out there, not likely to be always the answer you're looking for.

    thanks for the info.
That board is from the T1 version, before the TP. They changed a lot on the board, as I've studies those pics, and though the main big things are in the right places, the smaller stuff is all moved around and changed.

I'm the one that recorded them all and posted, and also sent them to Meizu... though the replies I got back had nothing to do with the bugs, and jsut told me to (guess what??) do da reeeset and huld entar and duhfoo toolz lulz. EVERYONE.. just about... KNOWS THIS ALREADY. I told them about 5 times I did everything correctly, but they still say that. Last one I got said to send it back, but I don't want an SP for a TP if I can fix mine with spare parts.

Exactly. And I remember just a few months ago when people were asking why it was taking so long, and certain people were practically yelling at them telling them to wait even longer. We've all waited. We got a menu option to go back, and that's it. I haven't had any problem with my TP's buttons. Personally, I think it might be because of something I recently found and that's that the backplate behind the buttons seems to come right off on newer players. My TP version has it plastic welded right to the case and I can use them without a hint of falling out even with the thing sitting wide open. I'm willing to bet it gets loose and doesn't stop the pad from moving as well, and that's why it does that.

    This is pathetic.

edit: There, just wrote them another email.
Does anyone know if they have more support-emails than sales@meizu.com ?
Im trying to look at their webpage but its not working very well... what a surprise.

    edit2: found these.. market@meizu.com and meizu@globalsources.com
Please email you opinions to them, the more the better, we have to make ourselves heard if we want something to happen. Posting on this forum is not enough, they arent reading it.

Nice, and yeah, e-mailing opinions has to be the solution now. Their English forum is all crap, and they hardly understand a word you say, and the Meizu people there hardly ever even reply to anything. I just hope someone over there understands English. There has been one new mod at that place that actually knows and speaks English just fine, so maybe they'll be able to.

I posted a few problems I had over there a while back, got no help at all. The response they use for everything is "Reset your player", even if you say it it doesn't solve the issue, "reset your player". Luckily I had found this site before I just called it quits and gotten a different player.

As far as the FW is concerned it seem like they're just giving up on it. They've had plenty of time to release a stable FW without a ton of bugs. The LEAST they could have done was release a FW with all of the playback bugs fixed, so we can have an enjoyable FW while we wait for the next with newer features.

Judging by they're actions there is not a chance I will purchase another product with the name Meizu on it. The fact that they would abandon a product so new for another that isn't even out yet is rather sad. Do they lack confidence in the M6? It hasn't even reached it's potential yet, we could have a much better player than we have now.

Yeah, I know. You could tell them your M6 was run over by a car and is flat, and they'll tell you to reset, or say to give your e-mail to send you DFU tools. Don't know why they still don't have DFU tools as a download on their page.

I still have to wonder where their attitude about giving their customers what they want went, which is one of the reasons I even bought my M6.

I wonder how soon Dane-Elec will offer this FW update? I would probably like not having to press the menu button each time I want to back out of a menu, but I'd rather not install this version until D-E puts their support behind it.

As it is an unofficial release, and there is no information on where it actually originated from i doubt D-E will offer it until Meizu make an official release available. Even then it may take some time before D-E make it available.

    I agree...

I'm a quite new M6 user, and before this thread I was really enthousiastic about this product and the new firmware release... It's a shame this is not going on...

A suggestion for MEIZU : if they want to focuse on M8, why not...
But in this case, why not release the M6 firmware as an open source project ?
That could be a great solution to have an updated firmware, new features...

Let's not loose perspective here. I can certainly understand that Meizu wants to focus on developing the M8 for release. This isn't Apple or Microsoft. They'll eventually come around and work on the firmware. Besides, the current firmware is *reasonably* stable.

The concept of open sourcing the firmware is a nice idea, but there should be motivated developers with time and knowledge to work on the firmware. I would, if I had the knowledge.

I can understand that they wannan focus their efforts on developing the new M8, but what about the OTG-support we have been waiting for 8 months for? It's almost one year since they "went" out with that they gonna realese that support... and since i bealived them i got that battery-pack, witch for me the only use is the OTG. So what will happen?!

It will happen. And I truly hope it does. We'll have to be patient, but persistent.

Of everything about the new firmware that's a feature (OTG) that I'm waiting for.
