not all albums sorted under artist

okay, this is propably a problem with the firmware, so i started a thread here.

i sorted all my music so the m6 should easily recognize all media, but when i search under artist, not all albums are displayed by that particular artist, only a few. but if i go under albums, all the albums are there. hopefuly somebody can help, because i first like to look for artist and then the album.

another problem: it would be cool if the player would sort the albums buy release year and not alphabetical order. i know, the problem could be easily solved by writing the year in the album tag, but i'm looking for a more elegant way

This sounds to be caused by incomplete ID3 tags. You could try using MediaTagger, MP3 Tag Tools or other ID3 tag editor to check your songs for missing tags. I've read somewhere in the forums that not having both ID3v1 and ID3v2 tag sets complete also may cause this kind of problem.

About sorting albums by year, it's not possible in the current firmware.

I have experienced exactly the same !
But in my case it happens only with FLAC files and only if I have managed it so :
\MUSIC\Artist\track1.flac : it gets shown in "albums" but not in "artist".
\MUSIC\track1.flac : it gets shown in both artist and album

    THE EXACT SAME FILE.

--> it's a bug in the firmware concerning subfolders and flacs.

i experimented around a bit and i found two problems:

    1) it still happens sometimes without any explenation (only 2 songs where there should be 12)

    2) when search through artists, the album listings is not scrollable. only 8 albums can be displayed (there should be 11). i figured this out by deleting an album after the other, then an album that wasn't displayed jumps in the last place of the list (it goes after alphabetical order).

was any of these problems present in earlier firmware versions?

tömke, this sounds somehow familiar to me, I think I have read something somewhere here in the forum a couple of days ago. As far as I remember that had something to do with a maximum number of files limitation. If you have a large collection of pictures, try to remove them temporarily from your player to see if that solves the issue.

no, I just mentioned pictures because some people have a lot of them on their players, which uses up file slots (if there is a maximum number, which has been confirmed by some people). That's why I recommended to free up some slots by deleting some pictures.
How many files do you have on your player ? Use Windows Explorer to count them.

    what i do is:

i disregard album titles and just put the specific artist's in their own album name.

example: dr. dre would be in dr. dre album title.

i dont use album pictures, i think its a waste of memory, plus applying the same name to album titles reverses any confusion made by the player.
    M6: 4 GB.
    Feather office: USB program.
    QVC: ear canal phones.

today I have experienced the same strange behaviour with oggs and mp3s as well.
I copy 10 albums of the same artist to the player : they appear all in artist and album.
Then I copy another 5 from the same artist over : 2 of them appear in artist, but all 5 in album !
I copy some of the non-appearing up one folder : now they're all under artist !
I copy another of the non-appearing up one folder : does not appear under artist but under albums (in fact EVERY album is under album ! always.)

And now the fun part : I delete all 14 albums but the one that didn't work before : now it works.

I see no logic here. It doesn't seem to have to do with number of files, nothing with tags, nothing with any other file property. It's like the firmware rolls the dice to decidel if it works or not.

    This is a weird bug.
I think I will indeed use "Artist - Album" as the album name from now on. But it sucks.

In "Artists" the miniPlayer only shows 128 files. So ie if you have 15 albums from one artist, with 10 songs in each album, in "Artists" you will see the 12 first albums complete, the 13th with only 8 songs, and you will never see the last 2 songs from the 13th album and the 14th and 15th albums. But in "Albums" you will see the 15 ! Is it clear ?

    Aha !
128 per artist or 128 alltogether ? Did you count it out or where do you have that info from ?

so you have that number 128 by counting ?

Btw, this seems to be a sole display problem in "artists", because when you press play, the Meizu suddenly finds all songs from that artist again.

What do you want ? An official letter from Meizu ? Why don't you believe me and don't take my information serious ?

Cool down, friend. I am just curious where that info is from. If it is just a wild guess, you can tell us so.

Anyone know any more about this? I use the Artist tag to group my non-artist based albums (Soundtracks, Podcasts, etc.). So say if I'm looking for a specific soundtrack to play I browse by artist and select Soundtracks.

But it's quite frustrating to not see all of my soundtracks in the list.
