This is a discussion on M6 Firmware 2.003 within the Firmware forums, part of the miniPlayer M6 / SL category; It dosen't sound like there is any updates with significance yet.. It just seems to get worse and worse.. why ...

It just seems to get worse and worse.. why don't they fix the basic bugs and listen to our suggestions witch actually would do something good? And what about the OTG-support they promised back in february? And GIF-support witch dosen't work as animated backgrounds?!

    I'm just disappointed!

PeSa, I would recommend you use v2.003.1 because it has the newest updates, but it still obtains the up/down tap function (very annoyed with v2.003.2 :@)

You probably know this, but you can install any older Miniplayer firmware that you can find. You're not limited to what's come with the player.

Yes, i dont get it. What are they thinking?

They added support for id3-tags but no options for us to change the titles in playlists etc.
They added albumart, but the pics are so small that its almost funny, no optios for us to change that either.
Now they add GIF-support but no options to use it as bakground.

It looks like they just keep throwing new things in without really thinking about how to optimize it and make it usefull to us.

    Nooooooo!
I use that all the time! How do you step through a list now? Sliding is just not precise enough for me.

Yeah. First when I got my Meizu I thought:
Uh, a nice thing, but scrolling by sliding is quite unprecise. It's just too hard to move through the menus when you are walking on the street or when you are on the bus. It's quite frustrating. But furtunately I found the tap-up and tap-down which was really helpful. It's also quite practical when you want to change the volume but dont wanna take out the Meizu out of your pocket. You just have to take out "hold" and tap up or down. But its simply not possible to adjust the volume only by sliding when you dont want to take out the meizu out of your pocket.

I think these are the 2 possibilities to solve this:
    a) bring back the tap
    b) making an entry in the settings menu where you can activate or deactivate tap

You are right that its better than nothing but functionality/improvements on allready implemented stuff should have priority before adding new gimmics like albumart and gif-animations etc, i also want new stuff but it feels like they have ignored/forgotten alot of stuff we wanted fixed in the first place. I have had this player for a long time now, was one of the first to get it here in sweden last summer and since then i have waited for better id3-support but it looks like it wont happen.
Just a bit disappointed, thats all.
I agree with Nizzon and others that have expressed their dissapointment with firmware quality.

In my case this new 2.003.1 preliminary version, has created new problems:
    - Some videos that worked before do not work any more (videos created with Meizu's Video Converter software).
    - Library update process crashes with some files.

    and maintains old problems
    - Song order problems
    - Music Library inconsistency problems (albums that appear or dissapear depending on other files you copy).
    - Fast forward/backward problems

    just to name a few.

miniPlayer is a wonderful product, great hardware little box comparable or better than iPod hardware.

Unfortunately firmware quality is dammed poor, closer to cheap MP3 crappy players around. :-(

I've read a post that version 2.003.2 is available. Is this version more stable than 2.003.1?

similar stability as 2.003.1 (ie not too much) but:

    - up/down tap dissapears
    - nasty bright default background is back

    I'll stick to 2.003.1;

and after a few months waiting for "The Holy firmware", I think I'll forget about it... it will be impossible to have a really stable firmware where the basic stuff works fine.

Meizu prefers to invest in adding more superfluous useless stuff (as animated .gif) and its corresponding extra bugs instead of repairing completely what the M6 is actually for (ie, playing music).

Just imagine Rockbox open source firmware on miniplayer with full functionality and stability... that would be nice maybe in the future we will have it i will never stop dreaming :D
Looks like meizu created nice product hardware however company has novice experience when it comes to creating firmware, it will take time probably less a year or more for us to see stable and more functional firmware release, so do not expect miracles in current, next month upcoming firmwares...we should love miniplayer as sound is pretty damn good, great battery life, screen, movie playback, small and cheap to buy

Nooo, they took away my up/down tap? This is enough of a reason for me to stay with the old firmware.

Has problems with the battery meter...
I find that alot of times it shows the battery as dead... then shows it full then half...
and then shuts off after just unplugging it from charging it

Definetly i will stay with my old 2.002.3 firmware. Unless someone confirms that the 2.003 is better than my old Fw.

No Down/Up Tap? Battery meter problem? omg.

Meizu should fix main issues first.. then add useless functions. i still not getting why FW/RW is better in video mode. And.. omg fix the shuffle thing! songs get repeated many times while others wont play once.

The auto update library begins to get on my nerves. This function takes a long time to run when i have a large music collection in my M6.

Well it's still good to have it but it kinda make me wait for a longtime before i start to do anything.
