DFU Tools error Explained - Post why your player wont work
An exsplanation why most players Get "Bricked"
Right everyone
This recently happend to me :
My players firmware got damadged (I pulled out the charger cable on the loding screen, Its a know problem)
Now , when you run DFU Tools it always works 100% the first time ,
The DFU Tools is built into the firmware and its not a hardware chip,
Although whenever your firmware is affected the DFU tools is always left intact
- This means the player is invincable right???
- NO , I mad the bad assumption that it was
With DFU Tools when writing firmware you have to have a loading screen. As it takes a while to write the firmware to the chip.
By mistake many people acsidently pull out the cable ,
Or their PC Says "Not responding" so they cancel the application,
Or Your finger slips of the button.
The DFU tools is loacted towards the end of the firmware  so it will have to be fully loaded onto the firmware for the process to work.
If you pull out the cable to soon the DFU tools function wont work anymore because it dosnt exist,
Ive Just sent my player back to jarmarc trading (Mark) and he confirms my player is totally dead , So that is the main reason players die from firmware issues
I quote form Mark's E-mail to me;
"I got your's yesterday
, and it definitely was dead.
"
So whenever you are doing DFU Tools Be extremly carefull
, Free up ram on your pc so it wont crash and end all the other programs (Possible reboot) , Make sure your USB Cable is in firmly and cannot be pulled out . Watch the bar till it is completed , And i think a message comes up saying Sucseful .
Hope this is usefull
Rob XD
Hopefully your player wont get "Bricked "

Nice info, havent had to use DFU since i got my first M6 (Am I lucky or what? :D)
But, getting back to your idea, its pretty much the same as when you're loading a new bios version into your motherboard, firmware upgradeable devices cannot build up break points to get back in case of incidents (as windows does every time you try to install something).
It's really important to let the whole process of firmware upgrade to finish, this process is actually pretty fast, but it wont hurt nobody to let the player alone for 3-5 mins
Internet has an answer for every question out there, not likely to be always the answer you're looking for.

wow i have used the DFU liek 10 times cause I am stupid and keep putting S firmware on my TP player and T on my SP...
nevet had a problem with DFU though and since Vista arrived the DFU tools arent really needed anymore as Vista recognizes the player even when the firmware is messed up...

So you can still read/write stuff to it if the firmware is mucked up?? IE use it as a usb drive???

Hi,
My 4GB meizu miniplayer has frozen on the loading screen before playing a video... I downloaded the video and all was fine i even watched one. However when i went to view the second one the hour glass came up it has benn supposedly "loading" for ages now... I tried to hold the M button for 45seconds to reset but nothing happens. It is only a week old and ive had quite a few problems with it! Its a pity because they seem such great players!
Any advice would be appreciated!!!! Im going on a trip tommorrow and really wanted it for the journey!

Thanked 34 Times in 19 PostsI am stronlgy recommending disable USB2.0 in BIOS, with slower USB DFU works perfectly, but with 2.0 it causes "Cannot communicat with device" errors.

Thanked 0 Times in 0 PostsGuys, I think I may have messed my player up. I bought it new off of an ebay store a few months back. It has worked fine. But I think what I did was I was trying to use DFU tools and I released the buttons too soon. My firmware is all messed up I think. Is there ANY fix for this? Any at all? My player dosnt even power up or turn on. Im desperate at this point. Is there a way to get another one (aside from buying a new one) to replace it if it cant be fixed?

Thanked 0 Times in 0 PostsGot My M6 working after losing the firmware!
I was dumb enough to be the ones who let my finger slip while using DFU tools and it didnt finish putting the firmware back into the unit. I thought my unit was dead, but I was able to fix this. If your unit was like mine (wouldnt turn on at all or make noise), here's what you have to do to get it working again.
1. Press the Enter button for 15 seconds.
2. Push and hold the Power/Play and M button. You will see a quick flash of the screen.
3. Plug the usb cable into your unit as you are holding the two buttons down.
4. Run DFU tools, and it should now pick up the unit. (Note, it may say "cannot detect DFU unit", just clock download until it works).
5. Click Download, and the base resources will be back in the unit.

Thanked 0 Times in 0 PostsLoading......
I have been stuck there for a while.
Read everything on the site....
Holding M and pressing Power/Play. Plugged it in. Installed drivers... opened DFU... Clicked download. Manifested image1 and uploaded the m6.EBN. Then manifested image 2.
USB disconnect sound sounds-off. and Status stays on enumerating.
Power the M6 back up and still on loading......
This sucks.
Help?

Thanked 0 Times in 0 PostsFigured it out on my own...
DFU tools does not work properly with new firmwares. (2002.3 and up)
I managed to get my hands on a S 1.009 FW located here:
Old Firmwares
Using this firmware i was able to successfully flash the M6. Unfortunately i had to reformat... Thats the price to pay instead of shipping out to China.
