It appears to be exactly the same as the Meizu version firmware with the exception of:
    • Dane-Elec logo in place of the Meizu logo at start-up and in the background picture
    • The built-in support for the various languages of the Dane-Elec players.
    • Instruction document on upgrading the firmware is also included, as well as a document outlining the changes and fixes the upgrade addresses.
Let me know if there are any questions.

Does this firmware have all the little glitches reported on the various threads here? I'm inclined to stick with 1.010 until they've ironed out the problems.

The one on DaneDigital.com is the European version which does not include FM radio function and has the volume limit of 35 versus the standard of 40. The USA version does not have these limitations.

S1.010 has it's own problems as will every version that will come out. That's why there will always be updates to the firmware to correct problems that aren't readily noticed in development.

Yep, All Dane-Elec products sold in Europe have those two features out of the box. I would imagine most people upgrade to the Meizu firmware if they want to have FM and remove the audio limitations. or, if they haven't it's because they may be concerned about warranty issues.

Now they can still use Dane-Elec firmware to accomplish the same thing if they choose.

    Hi,

It's me again (with my free 4GB Meizu from Walgreen.Com LOL. I think I'm going to buy the 8GB). Doe the Dane-Elec firmware have all of that promo stuff on it. I know I'm corney but I just loved showing people the video at work and they are now asking me what happeneed to it and whether its on the new firmware. I already upgraded but don't have the vid and intro stuff. Also, 3 people want me to give the purchase info but I don't think I want to send them to Walgreens.Com because of all of the delay and other problems I had. Please let me know. Thanks

Dane-Elec firmware version is not necesary the same version number than Meizu's own firmware.

Meizu usually kicks out firmware more frecuently than Dane-Elec and Emgeton
Internet has an answer for every question out there, not likely to be always the answer you're looking for.

Do you have any preference for Deane Elec, Meizu or Emgeton? If so, why?

It looks like the Meizu S2.003.2 does not have the option "album art" which makes that possible to display a small graphic of the album in audio reading mode that the Dane-Elec US firmware version S2.002.3 has. Anyone see differently?

Meizu of course. I like Meizu because it is the real thing you know (im not against Dane or Emgeton), i think Meizu is changing the bad idea that a lot of people have regarding chinese products. Emgeton and Dane Elec just saw a great opportunity with Meizu products.

The firmware seemed a little fragile. Dane Elec sent me a miniplayer and they did I don't know what to make it MUCH smoother. I just downloaded after my pics and music were booted for the second time. Immediate difference. maybe it matters who sends it (I don't know why, but seeem sthat way). Also, No one rush to tell me that the promo was on the Meizu site. After long minutes I found it. Thanks for all your patience and kind assistance LOL!

I have tried updating my Dane-Elec Meizu SP 4Gb several times. I don't have any trouble getting the player to accept whatever firmware I throw at it, but everytime I turn the device on after it has been sitting off for more than 20 minutes, it take 2 tries to get passed the "Loading..." screen. When I opened the unit out of the box it had the S1.010 firmware on it and fired up everytime. I decided to upgrade to the US version of the Dane-elec firmware S2002.3, and since then, I've had nothing but problems. I love the player and enjoy it very much, but I don't like having to try two times to get the thing to work properly. Has anyone ever experienced this, and if so, how can I fix it?

i had the same problem as you did JoeD....i decided to upgrade because i couldn't play some videos files which i had convert with srt subtitles files.....and hoping it would work...

i had the original firmware 1.010 and upgrade to the new s2002.3...everything was the same EXCEPT NO RADIO and volume as fixed at 35 instead of 40....

i upgrade the another firmware ......and restart player....and iT WAS IN CHINESE....lucky im chinese and can read some of the words and change to English language.....
it wasn't sastifying so i upgrade to another firmware......
and it went back to the original settings...with my volume back at 40 and FM radio back on.....
but the version is now 3.2002.3 instead of 1.010

so after all the changes....it didnt change anything...except cause confusion....
i should have left it in the first place

    whew !!!!!!!!!!!!!
