M3 T2.004.3 Official Release

02\11\07: Along with the new M6 firmware a new version T2.003.4 was released today for the M3.

Change Log:

1. Supports version 3.95 - 3.99 encoded .ape files.
2. Corrected problem with time display on MP3 VBR encoded files.
3. Corrected end of MP3 VBR problem.

If you are updating from 2.003 or earlier versions this will format your player during install so be sure to backup any data you want. After the format you will need to copy the resource.bin to the player, disconnect and restart.

As this is the Chinese version it will set language to Chinese as default. To change back to English got Menu-10 Down to Settings -7 down to Language.

This firmware has always the bug of limited 1792 files.

Even, the number of files accepted seems to be 1735 instead of 1792.

Unfortunately stutter (or skipping) is still present but clearly reduced.

Mmm, I was hoping they were using it as a shorthand description for the whole problem.

It's not fixed for me; it may be better - it's difficult to tell so quickly - but I just got a stutter on the first gapless track I played

Edit: it does seem to be much better, although still in evidence. Will test some more.

this firmware still doesn't fix some problems i encountered with 2.003.5....i have a song with 192kbps mp3 cbr, when the song ends, there's are very loud and sharp static noises...i tested the song on my pc, it has no such sounds at the end...
secondly, this firmware still doesn't recognize correctly the bitrate info for mp3 files encoded with mp3 vbr v2, and for these files, when i use the scrubber to scroll through the song, the time of the track keeps decreasing and increasing again and again, and there will be a big gap at the end of the song, about 1 minute....

This problem is called stutter, tapping and a dozen of names. I did an attempt to explain here Trying to explain what the stutter or tapping is and this problem make over 100 members put their signs here PETITION to make stuttering issue meizu's #1 priority.

Not my experience. Upgrade from 2.004.2 --> 2.004.3 was uneventful. Upgrade preserved ALL settings including language (English)!

After resource.bin applied, my custom settings unchanged, I felt compelled to go to settings to confirm the firmware was in fact 2.004.3. It was.

Sweet!

you welcome... to re-encode is what I hate most... I've done it a couple of times... but I've choose to convert to OGG instead, I like most this format. It doesn't produce the "stutter issue".

Hi,

I came across a problem wafter upgrading. There's no reaction if I try to set language to english. Working in the menu works, but setting of no language works. Any advice?

edit: Works now.

update to the latest firmware

I've updated to the latest firmware but I've forgotten to backup the 3 or 4 original pictures that come with Music Card. I was using one of them as a background picture. Would it be possible to download them from some place? Thanks for your help.

My Meizu
Hello,

I'm a bit confused about "officials" firmware releases. I thought that this sticky thread was updated on a regular basis with the new firmware releases.

But i've seen that there is now a T2.004.6 release that is out (for some month now) and the sticky thread is still with T2.004.3.

Is this that the T2.004.6 release is an unofficial one ? Or maybe that it is very buggy ?

Thanks for your replies

Phil,

Only Meizu makes "official" firmware releases. Versions 2.004.6 are the current release on Meizu's web sites MEIZU 魅族 - 专业媒体播放器 (Chinese) and MEIZU MP3 PLAYER (English).

At least for the M3 MusicCard there appear to be slip-streamed variants between what's available on the Chinese and on the English pages. Specifically the M3.EBN files have different time-stamps, the resource.bin files appear identical.

Yeah, the Chinese site has firmware released before the English site.

In content they are the same, the only difference is that the firmware released on the English Meizu site updates the player with English as the default language.

@hjacobson and @Err0r :

Thank you for the informations. So I assume that the last official firmware release for Musicard is currently 2.004.6.

I'll do the FW update using the file on english site, as I prefer the default language to be english rather than chinese !

@madman : maybe the sticky thread should be updated to indicate 2.004.6 as latest firmware release ?
