Forum Cleanup
This is a request to the Mods here..
The Forum is becoming cluttered and confusing.
I say this, coz this week for some odd reason I could not access the App folder on my M8, so I formatted the HD and wanted to get the latest of all the awesome apps that have been posted here .
But I got so confused with all the threads and locations where the apps reside... there are apps that have been updated ( Restart) put up on Rapidshare and are not downloadable anymore.. repeated requests to the developer have gone unanswered.
Then there are apps that have confusing version
Profiler has 1.0.XX and then there is .315 now which one is the latest one???
I know this might be a lot of work, but the initial way of finding all the apps in one place was the best, I am aware there now there are English versions of some of the apps, and if possible they should be put in their own section, but still under the Downloads page.
Just a request.....

Thanked 11 Times in 6 PostsI would love that too!
Like you said about the download page, just add two new folders there, one for Chinese and one for English apps.. And please, upload ALL apps there, it's confusing to have to look around in the forum to download new and old apps!
One more thing (example), inside the Download page -> english/chinese apps -> there should be another page with requests, then it would be easy to navigate and find apps and not just people asking about them! I would love to have things clean and systematic!
BUT this will/would take a lot of time to do! I'm just joining in on the request..

Meizu Me is almost completely user generated. I have requested that all apps are to be posted in the Downloads section, but it doesn't happen every time.
What you've requested is very time consuming. Do you think you can help to clean it up, and if so -- with what in specific? Can't wait to play with the Meizu MX!

If I can help I would definitely like to help.
I would like if possible to instruct the developers to update their apps and links along with the dates so that we can get a clear understanding of what is new and what is old....
I really appreciate the developer's work in developing the applications and / or translating them in English, and without their efforts the M8 would not have been what it has evolved to be. So I request for some extra effort to sort out their applications.. and versions on the forum so that all could be aggregated in a tidy way.
If this can be done, I can download all the applications and reupload them to a desired place that is indicated by the Mods. I can also put them in various folder groups indicating the FW versions the apps would work with. This way if someone is still using older FW versions they would know what will work and what will not. We can also create a folder of "Absolutely Must" these would contain the basic applications that you have to install before other dependent applications could be installed.
I am ready to help, just let me know.

Good idea, we also might want to clean up some members that have just registered with 0 posts but have not been active for a year, or something like that. We could also put a small team together to organize all Apps, Firmwares, Skins etc. into the downloads section. We could also have more specific sub-categories in the forums, it's getting a bit crowded in some sections of the forums.
If you are having trouble with your player, please visit this thread first and try the steps before you panic. Most likely you will be able to fix your player easily using the steps listed.

One important issue in how the Downloads section should be organized is, should each app be uploaded only once and updated with each update, or re-uploaded each time an update is ready?
mbarry - What are your suggestions for rearranging the sub-categories?Can't wait to play with the Meizu MX!

Great! We also need to write rules and guidelines for the Downloads section, and someone to help enforce them and keep the section tidy. This includes adding preview images, editing spelling, adding descriptions, and PM:ing uploaders who have neglected the rules & guidelines. 919263 - is this something you're up to?
Edit: Let's create some rules!Last edited by Err0r; 04-23-2009 at 04:36 PM.

I am totally up for it... Just let me know what needs to be done and we can start.
All suggestions have been good, as for the app updates, I think we need to upload each update, that way we can see how far we have come from the stone ages... and how the evolution of each App has contributed to the overall evolution of the M8.
We also might need some App testers, this could be totally Voluntary but the reporting should be formatted, so that that data looks consistent and can be compared across FW's and Device versions.
Anxious to give this a go and make this forum outstanding...

Edit: Is there a way to put this thread in just the M8 forum?/ The reason I say this is coz I have never visited this part of the forum before, I have the Main M8 site bookmarked and I go straight there...Last edited by 919263; 04-23-2009 at 05:13 PM.

Thanked 1,024 Times in 375 PostsI vote for one page for each application also because that way there won't be too much entries and updates can be found easier.

Ok,
I can go with that too...it will make things much simpler... but are we also considering some sort of archiving for the older app versions??
On the issue of not putting a version number , I would suggest we do put version #'s for the apps...
The reason, lets say I have 2 apps xyz.cab and xyz.cab, although I did download them on different dates, but when I backed them up or copied them to a new folder/location and then they have the same date, would be difficult to figure out which one is old... so let us definetely keep the version #'s.

I would be happy to, in my spare time, to make the changes. If a couple of members could help with re-locating threads, that would be nice.Last edited by hli53194; 04-24-2009 at 01:19 PM.

@ mbarry - The suggestions are a bit too specific IMO. Some of those categories would only contain one thread. However, there are some nice suggestions that will be implemented.

This structure sounds really good!
Maybe there could be subsections at "Software Issues" for users who are searching for a specific software that has not been uploaded in the applicationlist or isn't yet available.

I forgot to add a "Firmware" section. I thought instead of having the firmware as a sub-category under the player's category, have a standalone firmware category with skins, player firmwares etc.
