Meizu Me new design - your thoughts!

Work has started on a new Meizu Me design. A design company has been hired for the job.

I would love to hear any ideas / suggestions as to how you'd like the new design to be. Anything from colors, to general layout to text size. All ideas will be taken into consideration!

country flags would be cool. and maybe a chat room ? that would help solving technical problems faster in some cases.

First of all, great idea! Meizu Me has been looking a lot like other forums, why not make it special? I would suggest more refinement, like curves instead of a boxy look. Also, if at all possible, get some dedicated servers.

What about color?

I was thinking of a more black and gray style (like Meizu M8 GUI), or would you prefer the current color scheme?

I like blue ... it's my favorit color. Or else silver/black/gray. Or blue/silver/black/gray.

yeah a classy black vibe like the M8 GUI would be good. Use some translucent looking task bars like the M8 and some nice translucent looking icons too. Also make a huge resource area with all the firmwares for all the players, all other tools and apps (like batman and other encoders and firmware skinning apps) and all wallpapers, skins and other meizu related downloads. Perhaps more advanced profile options like more space for information and personal picture galleries. one forum I really like the look of is the sneaker site Crooked Tongues | Your number 1 online sneaker store and resource.. Although not tech relted it is very well put together nevertheless.

How about a dictionary button in the menu bar that searches, lists and defines technical terms, such as flac, resource editor, id3 tag, ect?
You could call it the "reference", "what is it?", "for dummies" button or something like that. Terms could also link to the FAQ section relating to that term. The icon could be a character with a question mark above his head, perhaps a monkey or something.

Blue/black theme would be cool. Also, something glass looking like in win vista.

I'd say, stay in the light color theme. Don't make it all black or something. This is better on the eye.

Why not have user selectable themes to suite the tastes of a wider audience? Some people like dark themes, some like light themes. Some like red, some like blue, some like pink... I think the ability to select from a few, or a wide variety of themes would be nice. Maybe have the ability for users to create themes and submit them to be apart of the choices.

I'd like to see a rating system for posts. Similar to how some people have done, if a post gets rated down the text gets lighter and lighter making it more difficult to read.

Also, on the front page, I'd like to see a static place that has the newly released (official) firmwares for each player. I really dislike having to go into the forums to find the "new" firmware for my player.

Also a gallery section for skins for the different players.

That's all I can think of for now.

i agree. i think there should be a downloads section with subsections such as applications, firmwares, skins etc. if u want to upload a skin, u should go to the skins section and upload it. upon clicking on the skin, u should see the replies and the download button. i like the instant messaging thing with online users so problems can be solved much much faster. i'll think about more stuff and state it soon.

Development is coming along nicely, here's what's coming:

- New design (M8 inspired)
- Skin gallery w/ download
- Firmware database w/ download
- More 'social' - ie. friends system, new profile system
- Better FAQs and stickies (may need help with writing/suggestions)

All changes won't happen at once, but all changes will have been made within 2 months.

Great news, i'm looking forward to the skin gallery.

The colours of the new theme should not be too dark.

It would be good if all available applications and programs were stickies (skin viewer, lyrics maker, DFU tools, font import tool, etc.).

what about a chatroom ?

Yea a chatroom would be nice, because I can't connect to IRC channels due to my firewall.

Also I would prefer a design thats clean and Professional over something that looks dark and 1337.

Other than that, about advertisements, I don't mind them, but those underline popup ads are really annoying.. perhaps add more banners instead of underline ads?
