Thanked 0 Times in 0 PostsFinding the datasheet for the SA58700 CPU would be a great help to the project.
The datasheet would give us important details such as the addresses of the various I/O registers, memory controller, etc.

Thanked 0 Times in 0 PostsErm.. I might be able to do something.. I'm familiar with embedded systems programming, c, c++, assembly.. i've been working with ARM cpu's like philips lpc2106 etc.. writing (simple) drivers for i2c, spi, shift registers, lcd's etc.. i've been digging into embedded os development in the past, created an ultra simple scheduler and all..
The thing is.. I need something to get started.. is cross compiling with gcc possible? Is there a way to JTAG the meizu m6 or are we always in danger of killing the m6 by a simple programming error in the firmware?
Not to mention development.. is there any SVN or CVS tree or something? Being there's already some work that has been done

Thanked 0 Times in 0 PostsAn important step would be to figure out how to do DFU in Linux. So far I've been unsuccessful. I think it would speed up development by *a lot* if we can do a DFU restore in Linux.

Thanked 0 Times in 0 PostsHi.
If you want to get into the development, you should probably try to contact markun over at rockbox.org - it looks like he doesn't check over here very often. He already started to do something, although I am not concerned with what he've done. You might want to check the wiki on rockbox.org, espacially MeizuM6Port < Main < TWiki although it seems a little bit outdated.
You can not brick your Meizu because it has a build in DFU recovery mode, wich runs in an special part of the memory (I guess, I don't know jack about embedded). There are many topics about recovering your Meizu around here.

Thanked 0 Times in 0 PostsYeah, it looks like you can't brick the Meizu. I already knew about the dfu mode, but I wasn't sure that it was an absolutely failsafe backup for bad flashes. The spec over at the Meizu section of Rockbox, lists it as having 50kb of boot ROM. If you don't know what a ROM is, it's a type of memory that can't be overwritten. That's a relief!

Thanked 0 Times in 0 PostsHi there,
I would participate to the rockbox dev for the meizu, but I can't find what markun already did in the lastest source... Did you know where I can find this ?
I send a PM to markun also.

I've put a patch with the code I wrote for the port in our patch tracker since some people kept asking for it. Have fun

FS#9125: Beginnings of the Meizu M6SL port
UPDATE: we decided to commit it, so it's in the rockbox tree now.Last edited by markun; 06-27-2008 at 11:26 PM.
