Great. First Engadget, now DAPreview. For those who don’t know, DAPreview is one of the larger gadget sites on the net.

Well, it sure adds fuel to my strive to make Meizu Me even better! Check out the post here.

Meizu Me has been experiencing “CPU Limit Exceeded” errors on a daily basis, meaning that Meizu Me has used more CPU power on the server than allowed. On one hand, this is good - it shows that Meizu Me is growing. On the other hand, this means that I will have to move.

Moving involves downtime and a lot of work importing databases and such. Not to mention the costs.

If these errors continue, then expect a move soon.

But no, the MeizuMe.com FAQ is everything but useless information, I’ve counted many times when a poor soul has accidentally mutilated his or her miniplayer. But do not fret, the FAQ will help!

I’m betting that everyone is thinking the same thing as me - what is the point of the calender in M6? It has no functions, no use, except to just look at what day is in what month. I mean, that’s pretty basic.

I’m going ahead and guessing that Meizu will probably do something else with it - maybe in the newer firmwares, you can actually write within notepad and then stick it with a date, ringing up as a reminder on the Meizu. That’ll be a pretty sweet function, turning M6 into a PDA.

Here’s the scenario; Meizu has just released a new firmware for your Miniplayer M6. You quickly download it onto your PC, waiting with anticipation of what the new firmware will do. Then something hits you - you’re stuck, stuck because you don’t know how to upgrade the firmware.

Have no fear. This blog will help you solve your upgrading problems!

Steps are listed below. Follow each step and you should be fine!

1. Download the correct firmware for your Miniplayer - making sure you do not download the wrong type of firmware (e.g. TP, SP, Dane-Elect, etc.)
2. Extract the 2 files inside, each being M6.EBN and resource.bin. Connect your Miniplayer M6 to your computer and copy-and-paste these 2 files into the root directory of your Miniplayer.
3. Unplug your Miniplayer from the computer, turn it off, and turn it back on. The player should display “Upgrading firmware. Please wait.” Hold your breath until the screen seems to have turned off, and start your Miniplayer again.
4. The miniplayer will display a green error screen, saying you do not have a resource.bin file installed. Do not panick - just connect your Miniplayer to your computer, copy-and-paste the resource.bin file into the root directory again. Unplug, turn off, turn on, and it will display “Upgrading firmware. Please wait.”
5. And there you have it! You are now installed with the newest firmware for your Miniplayer M6.

That wasn’t that hard now, is it? Just another hint - you find a new skin that you love on MeizuMe.com, and you want to make your Miniplayer M6 just like that. All you have to do is download the file, extract the resource.bin file into the root directory of your Miniplayer, and follow steps 4 and 5 listed above - You will find the Miniplayer M6 a lot more attractive!

As most of you know, MeizuMe.com ‘rebooted’ in September 2006. On the past MeizuMe.com, not many forum members were that keen on making skins to be used by the public.

Since September, to date, 80 different skins have been produced, downloaded, and praised. Now, I think that’s a very good job, because thats 16 skins a month!

Now everyone can have a personalized M6 to suit their needs.

To apply a skin:

1. Select which skin you want
2. Make sure it has the corresponding firmware number to your player, example, V2.000 firmware to V2.000 resource(skin file)
3. Download it and copy it into the root of the playerr
4. Disconnect and restart the player(Turn it off and then on again)
5. Wait until it finishes loading and voila, instant customization!

Just several days ago something wonderful happened. Engadget, the world’s number one gadget news blog linked to Meizu Me! It was in a post discussing the new pictures of the Meizu M8 and can be found here, the result was an 300% increase in traffic during one day.

This is wonderful because it says two things:

1. Engadget editors are reading Meizu Me.
2. Meizu Me content is at a high enough level to be linked by one of the world’s leading sites.

So if Mr. Melanson is reading this, I just want to thank you. Thanks for recognizing Meizu Me.

Getting a new Meizu Mini Player can be a very exciting experience. For some, the excitement will lead them into a state of confusion. Hopefully, this little article can help you enhance your first experience with your new player.

1. Check package - See if anything is missing. All Mini Players come with a player (really?), carrying case, cleaning cloth, USB cable, manual (most of the time) and PT850 headphones (older versions come with the predecessor PT800) with one pair of foam covers.
2. Read - If possible, have a quick skim through the manual and/or quick start guide to learn the solutions to the most common problems.
3. Connect to computer - Now you are ready to connect your new player to a computer. Before connecting, make sure your player is turned on. If a player is turned off while connected to a computer it will only cause it to charge.
4. Check & upgrade firmware - Check your firmware version by going into “Settings>About”. It is recommended to always use the latest version. You can get your firmware from Meizu Me, under the firmware section.
5. Transfer music - Finally, you can use your player for what it’s designed for, namely listening to music. Load up your favorite track, sit back and drift away. Have a good one!

I will purchase the Meizu M8 miniOne. Not only because it is necessary in order for me to run the fan site Meizu Me, but more because I believe it will be a great phone.

For those that don’t know, the Meizu M8 is the phone often coined as the iPhone clone. And sure enough, it does seem have an iPhone inspired design. Due to this, the Meizu M8 has been featured on virtually all gadget news sites and gained lots of publicity. In this case, “all publicity is good publicity” for Meizu. Why?

I recall many months back when the Meizu M6 (Mini Player) was announced, the scenario was similar. Some called the initial pictures photoshopped by Apple fanboys, but when they later learnt about the product, the next label was “iPod clone”. But as time progressed, what happened? Slowly, people dropped the term “clone” when they started realizing what the little player was capable of. Today, I dare say that Meizu is the number one Chinese company abroad, in terms of popularity, acclaim and fame.

I am confident that people will start to recongnize the qualities of the M8 too when it’s released, which is why I haven’t jumped into discussions defending the product from critique.
