Volume coming thru earphones stuck on very loud, hissing, crackling

I have a car charger that plugs into the port next to the cigarette lighter, supposed to be safe for ipods, mp3 players, I tried to charge the meizu m6 and it did not want to charge at all. I was away on a trip and when I got back home and plugged in my earphones I nearly had my eardrums blown out by the hissing & static bursts. The music can still be heard but very soft in the background. I've tried other earphones and they seem better, less hiss and static, and my Akai i.sound speakers seem to be doing ok also, but still static and hiss and crackle. I am on the verge of cleaning out the discs but just have to download some software to be able to upgrade the resource file again afterwards. If anyone has a solution to the problem PLEASE HELP. Have I fried some of the circuitry inside????? (I've posted the same under earphones and static)

    follow up

So I did the "clean all discs" as well as "reset to factory settings" and also the firmware upgrade, still no difference in the sound, although I now have control over the volume bar again. I've played around a bit with the earphone jack and the only way it works without any static or scratching noise is when it is pulled out slightly (about 2 - 3 mm) - in the past this was what was causing the sound to be "scrambled", (ie not seated properly) but in this case it seems to be the only solution to this problem. Weird! But the car charger definitely has damaged something inside. Wish I had known before I tried it!

Did you check the voltage and amperage before you plugged it in? If not check that and see if it's the same as the Meizu charger.

Actually, only the voltage needs to be the same, amperage can be greater. Is your player still covered under warranty? If so, get an exchange. I really doubt a charger can damage the circuitry, especially the sound. The most a bad charger could have caused is the complete destruction of your player, not just ruin the sound. Are you trying this when the player is plugged in? The power coming from a charger may not be clean and could sound as you described (it happens to my player too when I use a car charger). Try listening to it on battery power. If that does not work, try shaking your player, some stray piece of conductive dust might have gotten in and shorted something. Hope this helps!
If you are having trouble with your player, please visit this thread first and try the steps before you panic. Most likely you will be able to fix your player easily using the steps listed.
