Can't get to my Equilizer Screen

Just picked up my first SP M6 (firmware 20032) and am loving everything about it. I have read the manual half a dozen times and looked thru the archives. My problem is I can't find the equilizer screen. I can get as far as User defined or Load default but no matter what I do I just keeps kicking me back to the screen. What am I missing here besides more brain matter?
I go to: menu...sound effects...EQ...Now I am the screen for rock, pop, jazz, user defined, etc and any scroll to the right just kicks me back to this screen. So I have never seen the Equilizer Screen yet where I can make some adjustments.

press >> to open disred setting

if it doesn't work try pressing enter or tap on the touchpad

if it STILL doesn't work update the firmware

does the sound even change when you select for example Pop?

stranded... Thanks for the help. Nothing changes when I cycle thru any of the different modes of Pop, Rock, etc... The sound stays the same. I will update the firmware and see what happens.

OK... I updated to the latest firmware which made a lot of things better... Better and louder sound, increased font size when hoovering, etc but I still am missing something because I still can't find an equalizer screen and when I pass over modes like Jazz, Rock, Pop there is no change to the sound. Should there be a change?? stranded, you mentioned disred. What is disred? Is there some other function that I have to have on in order to get the equalizer screen or maybe I am blocking it somewhere?? If and when I ever get an equalizer screen will that allow me to change the equalizer settings?

Did you confirm the selection or just "passed over" them?

OK.... I FINALLY FOUND THE EQ SCREEN. Thanks to stranded and ErrOr for their help too. For anyone having this problem where they can't find the EQ sliders screen here is what I found out.

Update your firmware to the latest as suggested. Then go into...main menu... sound effects...EQ... User defined... And click on the "right >> button" and don't click on the middle pad. It should now go to the EQ screen where you can make your adjustments. I have to thank guardiangel for a post I found Oct 07 where he had helped someone else with the same problem. I guess you have to know where to click on the pad. NOW I REALLY REALLY LIKE THIS PLAYER!

The equalizer is something that I like a lot about Meizu's players as well. It can tune the sound to your liking, not some stupid preset's.

EQ Presets aren't stupid, they are for people whodon't know how to use the EQ. They are generalized, as different headphones sound different.
If you are having trouble with your player, please visit this thread first and try the steps before you panic. Most likely you will be able to fix your player easily using the steps listed.

Players: Meizu M6 SP 4GB, iPod Touch 4G

Well I'm sorry, but I can't stand the fact that iPods only have presets and nothing more, at least the last time I checked, and even if it did have a custom EQ, it wouldn't have enough frequencies for my liking. Sometimes the EQ can boost the sound quality by a lot.

i have to agree, since i have taken the time to set my equalizer to my earphones it sounds a lot better, this is a personal preference wich is different from person to person, so its very important that everybody can set it to there own preference.

I agree. I can't live without it now. The EQ can really boost the sound quality by a lot. I don't understand guys who advice to use flat EQ.
You only mess up with a "Meizu" neutral sound and I believe you are far from listen to your music like it was recorded, IMO.

Yes, and a custom EQ that is missing is something that I cannot accept, since without it, a flat EQ on any sound device sounds like crap IMO when you plug it in; you have to tune it to your liking for an optimal listening experience.

I agree, I never said a Custom EQ was bad. I just said companies make presets for people who do not know how to use an EQ. Plus, Flat is how the music sounds when it was recorded. Adding an EQ is Boosting, or removing som frequencies to your liking.

    No, completely untrue.

Setting a flat EQ wont reproduce the "recorded sound" for several reasons:

    1) Mechanics- you're not using the same equipment as the producer did.

    2) Perception - you don't have the same hearing as the producer did and may be more or less sensitive in different ranges.

    3) Acoustics - when using IEM's or earphones you're experiencing the sound entirely from your ears inner acoustics, as opposed to the natural acoustics of your ear and how you normally perceive it when the sound is coming from outside your ear.

In short - there is no such thing as a "flat" EQ or a "recorded sound".

    I agree

also every kind of earphone and sound chip you use will produce a different sound to another one and yes, you can just go down in details such as how well your cables transfer your signal. Every small thing you can think about might do differences to the music.

It just like what several guys I heard in this forum said: "There is no perfect sound setting"
This is just the same. "There is no perfect flat sound setting"

i'd like to see the ability to change the name of the presets to say for instance; se310, cx300. having 5 sets of phones can be a problem setting each for a particular curve. <- silly, it's just so nice to be able to do this.... i can't for the life of me figure out why cowon d2's are so popular. meizu is by far the BEST.
while i'm here, how long before i'll just be "passing by"?

ooops i just went to freshman.....lol

I'd wish that the players had saveable presets, but sadly, that feature isn't here, yet. The Rockbox M6 project will hopefully bring that feature.

i thought you could save presets on the m6. You can even write over the default presets (since they sucked anyways )
    Current Rigs:
    8GB iAudio 7 > Not in use
    4GB + 32GB iAudio D2 > Alessandro MS-Pro
Sony MZ-NH1 > Headroom Total Bithead > Grado Labs PS-1
    2GB Meizu M6 T1 > Not in use
    8GB iPod Touch 2G > Shure SE530
