here's an interesting model Welcome to Great-Sounds.com!! and another thread at Soundmagic pl-30 20.00 shipped - Head-Fi: Covering Headphones, Earphones and Portable Audio. look around head-fi there's more than a few messages about these. 20 dollars or even 40 seems a fair price if they're anywhere near what people say they are. there's even a seller on ebay. my personal low cost iem/canal is the JVC ha-fx66. they were 20 at amazon. just rember to glue the tips on when you get the right fit. otherwise the rubber tips will come off in your ears. isolation is very good with the JVCs, plenty of base, not overly bright.

I'll probally get the pl 30 also.... can't have too many phones right? RIGHT!?
    lol

Sure. This has been on for several weeks now. Totally crazy. Must be due to the global situations we having. Don't know. Ecater don't have them in stock right now because the seller has closed.
I did check the seller and he is also to find on eBay. He promises to back there on November 12, 2008. Maybe go back to ecrater at that time and see if they have become available.

Else I think it would be nice to see more signatures here for help getting MD-52 available on DealExtreme. That would be nice. We could bring the price down to 4-5 $ since there is already several others Kanon earphones to find there and most other earphones for that price.
    Just a though...

just to let u all kno the highly praised Kanon MD-52 are back at ecrater for a mere $7 plus (well add $3 to that for shipping..)
...from what I've heard these are better than the slightly more expensive Creative ep-630 and Sennheiser CX-300 ...

just ordered two of them...who know how long they'll stay at that price seeing how futuredaps.com raised it's price to $30

Anybody test the MD 52's against the Brainwavz, or the Soundmagics? I'm about to get a new pair of Earphones for Christmas, so if anybody has those 3 can they do a comparison (I'm mostly using my iPod now, since I got a trojan a while ago, and lost all my .wma songs, and only have .aac songs now, really eager for Rockbox, so I can use my Meizu again)?

Yes, I own both Soundmagic Pl-30 and a lots of MD-52's. Don't worry, I will go make that comparison for you very soon.
For now I can say these pretty much the same. I am just sure I will not try out the Brainwaves. They just don’t very look interesting in my eyes.

As of this moment if they both cost the same amount of money, which one would you rather have (SQ, Build Quality, Noise Isolation, Comfort all considered)? I just want a generic opinion right now, but a full blown review later won't hurt either.

Go for Pl-30 unless you don't like you have the wires go behind your ears. They can't really go straight down.
Else go try MD-52 if you want slightly better SQ and Comfort but I advice here to get a few pair due to its poor build quality. Some of them I did received were faulty.
I explain further in my comparison.
Noise Isolation is about the same but on PL-30 you have more tips to play with.

So the MD-52's are actually better in SQ than the more expensive PL-30's?
    hmm...

I would say the different that MD-52 is sounding better is so ridiculous small that they properly not worth getting them over PL-30 if you get these.
Pl-30 did just miss some details in soundstage that MD-52 unfortunately did better and soundstage was a little more forward.
I will say they then are surprisely identical. So much that I believe that they are using the same speaker units inside.

As I did said on PL-30 you get better build but also lots of accessories as well as a very useful carrying case. That why you properly you have to pay more on Soundmagic.
    They overall a better buy.

EDIT: I've just finished the comparsion. I have decided to post it on head-fi to let more people join it.

i just wanted to post a follow up to a message i got from a member here about the pl30's. i did get them and they have exceded all my expectations. i stopped using the shure se310s almost completely. they are the most uncomfortable iems i've tried. the shures go too deeply in the canal which you must do to get a good seal. without the seal there is NO bass. the shures have the stiffest wires i've ever used and turning my head with these on i can feel the wire binding. sad, the sound quality is very nice in the midrange but the top and bottom is lackluster. i'm glad i didn't pay full price for the shures. i mostly alternate between the pl30's and the jvc ha-fx66s when i use iems.
i've never found iems that come close to real headphones in any way shape or form. i suspect that they do exist but they are close to hundereds of dollars and the koss sc75's i bought at radio shack for just under 6.00 blow everything that goes in my ear canal away. yes, they are that good but, they're open, if your intention is to block noise look elsewhere. still at 6.00 you should have them...same driver as the highly rated porta-pros.
the best headphone i have presently are audio-technica ath-a700s. it's a very lively full size can which i'm hoping to report that in a few days has been replaced by a set of koss electrostatic headphones. i waiting on the post office to deliver them, maybe today!
