    CX-300 and Meizu M6 - EQ?

    Hi there.

I recently bought the Sennheiser CX300 for my Meizu.

I don't know much about audio or EQ. Which would be the best settings?

I read this in a spanish forum:

    Aumentar graves: 0

    Aumentar agudos: 0

    Efecto Spatializer
    Efecto Spatializer: on
    Modo Spatializer: Normal
    Virtual3D: 0
Ecualizador con conexión de fase: 7
    Aumentar graves virtuales: 0
    Dispositivo de salida: Earphones

    Ecualizador
    Ecualización personalizada

    60 -7
    150 -4
    300 -2
    550 -1
    1k 0
    2.5K 2
    5K 0
    10 -2
    16k -4
    20k -6
I tried it and it does sound much better than by default.

Do you have any other recommendations/variations?

    Thanks

I know NOTHING about audio. I don't know if the sound is "good" or "bad", and the CX-300 are somehow... special earphones (strong bass, I think).

    Any other opinions?

    try this:

    60 -3
    150 0
    300 0
    550 1
    1k 2
    2.5K 1
    5K 0
    10 0
    16k +2
    20k +3

bass boost level 1, treble level 1, spatialiser off.

You obviously do know what sounds "good" or "bad" otherwise you cant say that the spanish recommendation sounds "much better" than default.
    Current Rigs:
    8GB iAudio 7 > Not in use
    4GB + 32GB iAudio D2 > Alessandro MS-Pro
Sony MZ-NH1 > Headroom Total Bithead > Grado Labs PS-1
    2GB Meizu M6 T1 > Not in use
    8GB iPod Touch 2G > Shure SE530

It ultimately boils down to what you prefer. A general guideline is to tune down what frequencies you feel are too overpowering.
If you are having trouble with your player, please visit this thread first and try the steps before you panic. Most likely you will be able to fix your player easily using the steps listed.

Players: Meizu M6 SP 4GB, iPod Touch 4G
Headphones: SoundMAGIC PL-50s, Auvio In-Ear Armatures, Bose QC-15s.
Current Audio Congifuration: X-Fi Elite Pro w/LM4562 Mod -> Mission MS-50 + Boston Acoustics Subwoofer

Well actually that config also sounds correctly. I think the spatialiser effect is what made me say that "spanish config" sounded much better than by default.

But now I tried your config and it sounds "more natural" without this effect. Do you have the CX300?

I have the equivalent, the Creative EP-630. By nature though, i hated those in-ears, just didn't sound good at all.

Too much bass, recessed midrange, lack of high end, lack of soundstage, just wasn't my cup of tea. They were good at isolating outside noise and were comfortable though, but thats about it.

Well, I'm still looking for more opinions, since I can't decide between:

    - "Spatializer" off / Default POP
    - Spatializer ON / EQ in OP (spanish)
    - Spatializer Off / Eq from Blackstar

    I just can't decide

I would recommend not to use spatializer. It was years ago when I turned the loudness off in my home stereo system. Here's a small story.

The amplifier wasn't too good (late 80's Philips, same series CD-player too) but the speakers were nice, though not so perfect because they were self made and with non-fancy crossovers. They had good drivers anyway.

At first I found out that when I hooked my CD player directly to amplifiers "processor" input, the sound was more pure. (It had an output/input for sound proseccor, for example, EQ)

It was good for a while, but then I decided to try something more drastic. I turned the loudness off. At first it was afwul! No bass, no treble, just those hollow mids and all the "power" was gone. But that was a decision. I knew that the loudness doesn't make the music sound better. At that time I had been reading finnish Hifi -magzine for many years so I had much information about hifi and sound. It was a time for change. It took weeks, even months before I started to get used to it. I started to "hear" the bass differently, without it being boosted up with loudness. And same for high frequencies also. I started to find more and more details in my old CD:s.

Then I decided to go even further with the amplifier. I took every circuit boards out, leaving only the amplifier board in. Then I took a pair of RCA connectors and a logarithmic potentiometer (for volume) and made the connections with rca cable to the amplifier. When I was done, the sound was again more open but it once again lacked the bass even more. But I got used to it too and it really sounded MUCH better than with all the electronics inside.

Now after many years I must say its annoying when I meet people that like the "boosted" sound. My ears are responding immediately to those frequencies that are dominating the sound image. I know that it can be a hard task to get used to more flat frequency response, but I would recommend it to anyone who likes music. I'm not a real purist when it comes to sound, I like when the lower bass (25-40Hz) has more "juice", but its because the music style that I listen.

Thanks. I disabled spatializer and I'm now using default settings (EQ in Classic, eventhough I don¡'t listen to classic music :P)
