No gapless playback of Ogg (and Flac)

I noticed the M6 doesn't do gapless playback of Ogg Vorbis and Flac files (I haven't tried .wav files, but I guess it's the same there).
Between two songs there is a short stutter, when the next song is loaded. This is annoying when songs 'blend over' into each other (like with a recording of a live performance).
These audio formats are in itself perfectly capable of gapless playback, so I'm hoping Meizu can fix this in a firmware update.

actually, i think it would be more accurate to say that the miniplayer does not support gapless playback, period. that is, no matter what format your music is in, gapless playback is nowhere in the picture.

of course, this has been in the firmware wishlist since... i dunno, T1.007? we'll have to wait and see if Meizu is planning to do anything about it in future firmware releases.

Still not taking OGG

I am using 1.009 firmware...still..OGG playback.... crashes the Meizu

I was very pissed off at first...

first i convert all my OGG to Mp3 case the freaking Ipod wont take it
Then I sell the Ipod and get a Meizu and it wont play OGG either!

Ill stick to Mp3 VBR from now on

Yes, but with Mp3 it is to be expected that it isn't gapless. The format was never designed to be so, although some tricks can be employed to make it play back gapless.
Ogg, however, was designed with gapless playback in mind. I'm not to sure on the technical side, but I think it has to do with the fact that it uses the same frame length as audio cd's. The Miniplayer just takes too long to load the next song, so you hear a stutter before it starts. Meizu should make the firmware so that the player puts the beginning of the next song in a buffer, so the transition is continuous.
But hey, what do I know?

Oh, and apart from the gaps, ogg plays back fine on my M6. No problems whatsoever.

oh... i see... i really have no idea about these things as i just listen to music.

well, like i said, i don't have OGG files so.... :D and, like Job, i don't need the gapless playback so i don't have a problem with T1.009.

Then you both are lucky.
I tend to listen to complete albums, and many of my cd's have tracks that flow into one another continuously. The little stutter gets pretty annoying after some time. And if Winamp can do it, why can't my M6?

actually, i do have one complaint about the playback, and that is the occassional 'click' that can be heard in the transition between tracks. now THAT is annoying.

I think that's part of the same problem. You hear a click because the ending of one song and the beginning of the next don't line up exactly. There's no smooth transition, but a jump in frequency/amplitude/volume (I don't know exactly what , but you understand what I mean, right).

My PJB-100 played gapless mp3 in 1999. And it still does!
My feeling is that vendors AND customers are to much focussed
on slick looking hardware, instead of proper firmware.

I think you are right. Meizu M6 miniplayer is more a prototype with beta firmware than a serious competitor. For Chinese users the price on the other side is very reasonable ...

M6 read OGG perfectly from quality 1 to 10, i tried OGG 128,196,256,320 and did not have any issue on reading it, your M6 should have a problem
