Thanked 0 Times in 0 Postsv-moda vibe, and thanks to Blackstar for all of the EQ lessons!
thanks for all of the lessons, Blackstar. it builds confidence to at least have some guidance on these settings and not to be completely in the dark...
just got my v-moda vibe today, and was really worried i wouldn't notice a difference with my swiss gear (by wenger) retractable in-ear earbuds which i got for $20 from ebay. luckily, there is a big difference! whew, what a relief!
sound separation. is that a valid term?
listening to "a thousand miles by vanessa carlton" (mp3 224kbps) with the wenger, it is hard to focus on the individual sounds. all the sounds are just coming at you and at times, the vocals are "drowned" by the other sounds. using the v-moda, it only takes a split second to switch focus on each individual sound, and the vocal is easily distinguishable
sound depth?
an analogy i can think of is if you close one of your eyes. how much depth can you see? the swiss gear has very little sound depth compared to the v-moda (imho).
a little past the minute mark on "maria maria" by carlos santana, at the end of the guitar lick(?), there's 2 or 3 string notes that are hard to make out on the swiss gear, but clearly audible on the v-moda vibe.
lil wayne's "sky's the limit" seems to have more "color" using the v-moda vibe... not the lyric, that's got plenty enough, haha, but just the overall tone. maybe it's just in my mind. who knows? :D
my settings:
bass boost = 3
treble boost = 2
spatializer = on (i tried to give this up, per the recommendation here, but once you've tried it, it's hard to go back. i figure, the feature is already included in the price, might as well use it)
spatializer mode = virtual 3d
virtual 3d = 2
phase corrected equalizer = 2
vibe = 2
speaker type = earphones
equalizer = -2 -2 -2 +5 +7 +3 -5 +7 -5 +5 (just playing around and kinda liked it, was trying to "negate" the bass boost and the vibe)

Those settings for the v-moda sound about right
The Vibes in my opinion are more on the bassy side of things but as you have noticed, they are a big step up from your ordinary earphones.
Current Rigs:
8GB iAudio 7 > Not in use
4GB + 32GB iAudio D2 > Alessandro MS-Pro
Sony MZ-NH1 > Headroom Total Bithead > Grado Labs PS-1
2GB Meizu M6 T1 > Not in use
8GB iPod Touch 2G > Shure SE530
