If you don't know the difference:
Equalized... add extra power to some ranges, normally on bass sometimes on treble, suitable to be sold to simple consumers.
Monitor... just reproduce faithfully original sound.
PT-850 stupidly underrated due it comes in a bundle... is an excellent earphone, I've told that PT-850b is even better. I just hope that engineers have not equalized it in a different way than original.
Concerning the kind it must be used... don't you think Whatakevin that is something really personal? ... If you don't care... just don't answer the thread

There is a post "very vague" on the meizu.com Chinese forum that discusses the enhancements. Here is the link if you can read Chinese
http://www.meizu.com/bbs/dispbbs.asp...eplyID=&skin=1
I've also read in other threads the PT-850 was enhanced with the PT-850a, which provided more clarity in the higher tones and a more controlled bass. No spec's were provided. The PT-850b incorporated the 'M' logo on the earbuds plug and cable.
One significant comment was that the PT-850b earbuds were comparable to the high quality of the DN-C60 & H800 headphones. Also the earbuds are better suited for APE and FLAC recordings.

Our staff in China are still looking into this and asking MEIZU a lot of question.
We will post any spec's and/or further information on our sub-forum here on MEIZUME.com
Take care
