    Sennheiser CX300 or Creative EP-630?

    Hi there,

So, here's my question. I have never ever bought after market earphones/headphones. I've always thought that the one's that come with the player are pretty good.

Now, after reading all the posts I want to buy a pair of after market earphones and see (actually, hear) what I've been missing.

I've narrowed it down to two:
    1- Sennheiser CX300
    2- Creative EP-630 (or EP-635 ... newer model)

I know there has been lots of discussion already, but if price wasn't an issue between these two .... which one would you recommend?

    pros/cons?

(I've heard people say the creatives are almost as good as the sennheiser but better value, because of price ..... just want to point out ... let's say price wasn't a factor between these two ... are the sennheiser's better???)

    THANKS!

    Update: (Sep 21, 2007)
PLEASE READ POST #16 for update on Sennheiser CX300's and please help me out.
    thanks.

you`ll cant beat the price, i paid 25€! at amazon germany- free shipping.
The sennheiser? i dont know i heard that they are almost the same but more expensive.I would grab the EP-630 great sound and low price(!) But they good at the bass- highs are a little sharp but its not that bad.:D

i have the creative ep 630's too, and i can tell they are awesome! i never heard a sennheiser cx300 though...but i read on many forums that they are almost the same in case of sound quality. i bought them about 35$ so they are pretty "cheap" compared to the sennheiser. i think you won't regret if you buy the creative ones. great bass, great highs... they'll be a little weird for a few days if you never had an in-ear-phone before, but you'll get used to them

I didn't hear EP-630 though but my friend got CX300 and I must say that maybe their price is sometimes too big (espacially in Poland) they are really good headphones. I heard opinions that EP-630 has got only much bass and it is not always good. Also high tones are not well-played by those headphones. CX300 are good with every part of the sound. Bass is good, medium and high tones are also quite good and the isolation is fantastic.I have also heard fake CX300 and I think that they may sound like EP-630 (much bass, weak high and medium tones) and I didn't like it. So if we aren't considering the price, I would pick CX300.

It appears as though the Creative EP-630's are winning the battle.

Any Sennheiser loyalists here? Would love to hear from you guys ... otherwise I'll just buy the Creatives.

BTW, for someone who has never bought after market earphones, do you think there will be a noticeable difference in the sound between the Meizu PT850's and Creative/Sennheisers?

    thanks!

(I love my meizu and love this forum ... everyone is great ... thanks!)

you gotta be kidding me. theres a huge difference between stock headphones and market ones. id say get the sennheisers. you can find them on eBay for only $30 but you have to make sure that your get the genuine ones cuz if you get fake sennheisers then it will be just about the same as stock headphones.

another recommendation id make is the jvc marshmallows. i got it at circut city for only $15 (reg $30). its not as good as the sennheisers but dam for $15 its a great price for what you get.

heres another way that you can put this. you pay for the meizu M6 which has excellent sound quality but since you use stock headphones, you arnt getting what u paid for in the sound quality.

I have both the Creative EP630 and the Sennheiser CX300 and the later win out for me with a fuller and slightly wider sound stage. That said after buying the Mylar X3 I don't use the CX300's anymore.

Some say they're identical in sound. As for me, I love my CX300's. At first I thought they weren't bassy enough until I fixed the EQ on my M6. Now it sounds amazing. The high's are perfect at louder volumes IMO. Personally I like them better than my brothers Ep630's. The chord is a little thicker and less flimsy too. I bought mine for $35CDN on eBay from a trusted seller. My brother got his EP630's at cost for $17CDN. If I were on a budget, the EP630's are an amazing buy.

    This should help:

CX300 are more expensive then EP-630. So theoratically, sennheiser should be better (not always, look at Meizu vs Apple :D). i own ep-630, awesome earphones for its price.

Ahhh ... once again thanks for all your help, you guys are great!

I bought the Sennheiser CX300's. Circuit City had them on their website for $79.99, but I wanted them right away so I went to a Circuit City store and picked them up.

When I went to the register they rang up as $39.99!!

    Whose complaining?? ... hehe :D

I think you made the right decision. Write something about how they sound with the M6.

    CX300 FOREVER!!!

The sound is almost like on my Altec Lansing VS4121 speakers. I LOVE these headphones. You do have to play around with the EQ on Meizu, but not on other devices, and the sound quality is amazing. I bought 2 on eBay for $15CAD each (so about $15USD - USD almost equals CAD).

I've not tried the creative heaphones, but the Sennheiser CX300s are German Quality. I've had nothing but good experiences with Sennheiser headphones (both wireless and wired). Years of quality.

    Houston ... I have a problem!

Umm, well, I just finished listening to about 3-4 songs using both my Meizu PT850's and Sennheiser CX300's.

I can't tell even 1% difference between the two. And in a couple instances, I liked the PT850's better.

How can this be! Please help .. maybe I need to adjust some settings. Here are all my sound settings on my Meizu M6 SP.

(I am assuming my Sennheisers are original and not fake because I bought them from Circuit City ... which is a Sennheiser authorized reseller - and not from ebay or anything)

    Bass Boost - 5
    Treble Boost - 2

    Spatializer - On, Virtual 3D
    Virtual 3D - 2
    PCE - 1
    ViBE -2
    Speaker Type - Earphones

    Equilizer - User-Define, FLAT .... everyone 0

    Any recommendations?

    thanks

Update: Ok increasing the PCE from 1 to 4 made a big difference, they sound a bit better now .... any more recommendations. BTW, what the hell is phase corrected equilizer (PCE) ?

Turn down your bass to 2 and treble to 1. Take off Virtual3D. Change speaker type to "speakers" or "normal". ViBE is low - that's good. And after that it will give you a lot better sound.

Use EQ customized settings to FINE tune.

Bon apetite (... if this were a food, that is)

I have the CX300 almost a year now, the line doesn't look in normal shape. Its J-cross is seperated and the ears are damaged. Don't like this at all, because I thought it was made of high quality. Paid €40 for it.. And yes, they are real.

The J-cross cable is odd at first, but when you realize that the cable loops around the back of your neck and doesn't just hang in front, it's actually a really cool design. Took me a few minutes to figure that out

Only negative note: There is sort of a microphonic effect that the cable has (if there's wind or you tap the cable, you can hear it through the earphones).
