Review of d-JAYS Earphones
Roughly a week ago, I found a pair d-JAYS earphones lying in my mailbox, and after several days of usage and testing, I am finally ready to review it. The earphone is of the in-ear, sound isolating type and is designed by JAYS; a Swedish company specialized in earphones. The company is by the same guys behind the Swedish MP3 player brand: Jens of Sweden. The d-JAYS are their first earphones, with a price tag of US$99.95.

Construction/Design
I am an in-ear type of guy. Almost all my headphones have been ones with sound isolation through silicon ear buds. Having that said, the d-JAYS are definitely one of the better looking sound isolating earphones I have seen. The design is said to be inspired by nature; a sprout more specifically. When I first took them out of the box, I was shocked at their tiny size and portability. After a side-by-side comparison with the Shure E2c the d-JAYS size can be said to be 2-3 times (volume-wise) smaller than the E2c.
The build feels really sturdy, and unlike other earphones of this type, the ear buds sit really tight, so hopefully I won’t accidentally scrape them off and lose then when taking them out from my pockets. The rounded shape of the earphone combined with the text “RIGHT” and “LEFT” on the backside really gives them a cool, quality look and feel. It comes in two color-ways; black with white logo and white with green logo.
Comfort
One of the d-JAYS strongest points is comfort. Their shape allows them to be fully inserted into the ear, with nothing sticking out. While wearing them, I never get the feeling that they are going to fall off anytime, a feeling I sometimes get using other types of sound isolating earphones.
Performance
Having tested the d-JAYS side by side with the Shure E2c, I conclude that the sound quality of both these earphones are great, each with its own distinctive sound. Even though sound is something personal, I still feel that the d-JAYS had a little more balanced sound while the E2c had a “brighter” sound.
Features
The d-JAYS come in a good looking package with three pairs of ear buds with different sizes, four pairs of replacement wax guards, a multilingual manual and an extension cable. I was a bit disappointed that no carrying case or pouch was included. But then again, I never use the included pouches.
Conclusion
The main purpose of a head/earphone is to deliver sound, d-JAYS does this well and does this with style. With comfort and design being their best points, they are also good sounding. I would definitely recommend a pair of d-JAYS over other earphones in the same price range!

Follow Up
I have now had the d-JAYS for quite some time. During this time, they have managed to become my primary pair of earphones. In fact, I just got two earphones from other brands to test, but after the test I immediately switched back to d-JAYS, missing their comfort but also their sound.
Every morning, I open a drawer to pick a earphone to wear (from ~7 earphones) and it always comes to picking between the Shure E2c and the d-JAYS. In the end, the d-JAYS are picked for their small size and comfort.
They are definitely my favorite pair of phones at the moment, but who knows? I am looking to get some higher end Shure earphones, perhaps they will become my new favorites? For now anyway, I'll stick to d-JAYS.
Can't wait to play with the Meizu MX!

Any of you tried the new(ish) Sony MDR-EX90LP? I've had a set for a month or so, and love them. Extremely comfortable and sound very transparent with the M6.

A credit card is almost necessarry these days with global transactions. At the moment you do have another chance though

Nice option with your Christmas contest ... but there is no 100% customer satisfaction guarantee when I don't win

Better would be a second option transferring the money when you don't want to spoil Christmas for me

Thanked 0 Times in 0 PostsDo the d-Jays have a U-shaped (i.e, behind the neck) or Y-shaped cord?
I recently purchased some E2cs but would snap up a pair of d-Jays if the cord was a behind-the-neck style one as this makes it so easy to take them out and they just hang safely when someone needs to talk to you.
Peter@JAYS - Any chance of a special Christmas discount for us over here at MeizuMe?

Hi there friends!
d-JAYS have a Y-shaped cord.
One christmas contest is enough for now
. Hurry up cause on monday it's over and the winner will be presented shortly after. The chance is one in 20 to win at the moment
We are working on an easier price list for those who live outside Sweden. If you are unsure of the pricing to your adress, then feel free to contact me or anyone at JAYS for the exact amount.
q-JAYS will cost about 195€ and will be released Q1 2007.
Merry Jaysmas!
