loud noise coming out of my earphones

I've been experiencing this problem on my M6 for a while now. Sometimes, in the middle of the song (just anywhere in the song) the music ends and I hear a very loud, far louder than the music playing, stutter sound (dont'really know how to describe it, and I don't mean the end of song stutter problem btw).

I hope some1 can help me with this because it's very annoying, it damaged my ears a couple of times now, because it's so loud. and when I am in a public, quite area and it happens then all of a sudden everyone can hear the very loud stutter, (even) through my (mylarone X3) IEMs. This is for a couple of seconds, because after some seconds it will end and the next song will play.

Are your music files high encoded (> 256 kbps) and did the problem came after using the FF button ? I had the same problem with high encoded files here), and i never had this problem now with 192 kbps encoded files.

Also, encode your mp3 files with CBR and not VBR.

My music collection is a mix of 192 and 320, and I think all, or most of them VBR encoded.

Why encode it with CBR? Do you think that'll fix the problem? Because I like VBR much better

You shouldn't need to encode at CBR; if that is the case then Meizu have a responsibility to fix it (especially if it "damaged my ears a couple of times").
I sometimes get a very loud *chhhlick* sound at the end of some of my mp3s - could be the same problem - I ripped that album at 160-256Kbits VBR.

I entirely agree with you, audiofish. Be it the "end of song problem" or a similar issue, if you can play the file on other portable audio players or in your computer with no problems, then it's something Meizu must fix.

After all, if you bought music from a download service (for example, eMusic), you won't have a CD to re-rip the "offending" tracks, and converting a 192 kbits/s VBR to 256 or 320 kbits/s CBR will only get you a bigger file that sounds worse than the original.

I saw somewhere that CBR is better then VBR. Although I am not 100% sure on that.

    Hello, iversonjack.

The VBR encoding tries to maximize the sound quality and, at the same time, keep file sizes small (or not too big). It analyzes the audio stream and encode less demanding sections of the music (for example, quieter parts or silence) at lower bitrates and more demanding ones (for example, a full orchestra playing) at higher bitrates. This way, you'll get smaller files that sound as good as well-encoded CBR tracks.

I, for one, have always ripped my CDs to 320 kbits/s CBR MP3 with all quality parameters set to the highest levels. But I was an eMusic member until a few months ago (I'm planning on reactivating my account :D ), and could get quite a few good albums from them (usually ripped at 192 kbits/s VBR). I bought the CDs for some of the albums to have the booklet and lyrics, and could then compare the sound between the 192 kbits/s VBR MP3s eMusic offers and my fresh ripped 320 kbits/s CBR files from the CDs. The files sound much alike, IMHO -- the difference is very, very subtle; for practical purposes (listening to music on the go, while working out, at the job and so on) I think you won't be able to tell who is who.

    Regards!

hehe, I think iversonjack knows this He was trying to say that there seem to be less problems with CBR mp3s on the Meizu than with VBR ones. And I can confirm that.
    But nice summary anyway ..

All of the music on my M6 is VBR and I don't have any problem with unusual noises. I do encode them at 32kbps though, but you can't hear a diffrence. The difference is too small to diffrentiate for humans.
If you are having trouble with your player, please visit this thread first and try the steps before you panic. Most likely you will be able to fix your player easily using the steps listed.

you encode music at 32kb?? doesnt that sound like a phone conversation kind of quality? or did you mean 320?

I also think it depends on teh ecoder... i also use all VBR mp3 and i just have the "end of song problem"with 1 or 2 files...
