I recently purchased my first pair of IEM's (CX-300) and it seems everytime I touch the cable or even brush up against it, I can hear a heavy echo through the earphones. Is this normal? Or have I done something wrong replacing the buds?

    Yepp. Because they are isolated.

And this isn't annoying? I've had a quick look around the net before making the buy and no-one seems to mention this problem. So how can someone take ths jogging?

It just seems like you can't 'move' whilst listening to music using IEM's

I recently bought IEMs and I'm also annoyed
When I walk with them I hear a dim boom sound on every step... On the other hand sitting in the bus listenning to music has never been more fun, because the isolation is great.

Try attaching the wires to your shirt or taping it to your skin under the clothing; this will help reducing the amount of microphonics.

I've been using ATH-CK7s for more than a year now, and I can say they have very good isolation and almost no microphonics (I don't attach the wires to my clothes or tape them to my skin). When paired with my M6, they're just awesome.

For me, Koss has the Key to make Meizu bringout one of the best sound you could listen to.

I have my Koss Ktx PRO since 2000, and since the day I got it, I been looking for another headphone that win the race to my Koss:

    Specifications

    THD+N: 0.2
    Weight: 2.5
    Impedance @ 1kHz: 60 Ohms
    Detachable Cable: No
    Cord Type: Straight Y
    Coupler Size: Small
    Cord Length: 4 ft.
    Ear Coupler Type: Earpad
    Connector Type: 1/8"
    Acoustic Seal: Open
    Driver Type: Dynamic
Isolation: 0 (this is the big Problem )
    Status: discontinued

Since Koss Make the driver It's headphones uses, uses it on some of their most popular products, koss is well known everwhere. you must to test it to understand what I'm saying.
Koss has other LightWeight Models with great sound like mine too:

    Koss Porta Pro

    Koss Sporta Pro

    Koss KSC 75

    Koss KTX PRO1

    Here some comparation:

The Etymotic ER6's kick so much butt. The sound quality is amazing and they cancel so much noise too.

That just happens. With my Etymotic "in-ear canal" earphones I do hear some noises with the cable rubbing around. That's just par for the course on higher end phones.
