    Shure E4c or UE super.fi 5 pro for m6?

Which one would you recomend for my meizu m6? Now I'm using it with senn's hd 270 but they are a bit to heavy for it. I want a detailed bass but not in a way of being too punchy, clear mids and not to painfull highs.
I mostly listen to fusion-jazz, free jazz, low-fi/downtempo and rock.
So what do you think would play better? The UE are dual drivers but I'm afraid of the big bass yet shures are known to have very little of it is that true?

I'm also open for new recomendations at similar price tag.

True, the bass in E4Cs won't satisfy bass enthusiasts like me. I had the pleasure of trying my friends ones out. Clarity is amazing on those babies.

And recommendations would be the Westone UM2s. Take a look around, see if its possible for stores where they let you try out the headphones. I know of one local store which does.

Um's are 100$ more expensive and that's a problem and listening before buying is impossible because i live in Polland and in our country we eat iems not put it into our ears (or as you prefer there is only shure distributor which is not as good as i want it to be )

And from what I've heard (on head-fi, headphone reviews and polish sites) the UM2's are even more bassy than UE and that makes them a bit too basy and not so clear. Anyway I don't have the money so I have no chance to buy the Westones unless I sell my kidney.

Heh, yea I also heard people say before that the Shures had good bass. Boy were they wrong.

But yea, unless you've tried the Super Fi before, the safest bet is on the Shures

I own Shure E5, E500, and UE super.fi 3 Studios. Actually get a lot of use out of the SF3s and they're under $100 US! Good clarity, very easy to insert/use (with the 8lias mod), and sufficient bass.

In fact, I don't notice lower SQ when I just plug 'em in and go (...only notice when I switch from SF3 to E5/500 - more depth and deeper bass). The 3 Studios really are an excellent 'everyday' IEM. Makes me want to try the 5 Pro, but then I think, "why, I like these just fine!"

I have the Super.fi 5 Pro's and I love them. They have a full rich sound and the bass is not muddy. If you find that they are too bassy then that is why you have all those sound adjustments on the M6. I'm sure you'll be able to tweak them to be perfect.

I don't find the Shure E4 lacking in bass. Its well defined and definately present. For midrange, Shure's are well known to be quite upfront, which compliments vocals really well.

Since the main type of music you listen to is rock and jazz, i'd recommend the Shure E4's, which has the right type of midrange and presentation to suit those genres.

The SF5's aren't bad also and are worth considering. But I find their bass to be rather bloated and not as well defined as the E4's. Midrange is slightly recessed on the SF5 and highs are ok (they aren't harsh). However, the E4's edge the SF5 as the E4 in my opinion has more detail and speed.

With what over the heads can you compare e4c and SF5's? I mean in terms of sond characteristic not in overall quality because maybe that will give me and impression.

Hard to say... the super.fi and shure have different sound signatures compared to any headphone I have owned.

Any earphone can damage your hearing. Canals are actually less likely to cause damage. Since virtuallly all other sounds are eliminated there is no need to crank up the volume to drown out outside noise influences. My volume level does not have to be adjusted when I move into a noisy environment. How many times have you been on a bus and been able to hear the bud headphones of the guy next to you who cranked up the volume because of the noise around him? That's what causes hearing damage. Of course if you listen to your music unreasonably loud anyway it doesn't matter what earphones you use, you are at risk.

But that's not about the sound level but about the fact that they push the wax further inside your ears and it is unhealthy as wax is your ears protection.
I know about the good part of closed headphones but now I'm also considering some over the head closed ones. Maybe they are big but I like my ears(and I'm using one like that now)

Clean your ears often and there'll be less wax that gets pushed back in :D

As marley pointed out, its the volume that damages not the fact that it has a tip that goes into your ear canal.

It's true that you need to maintain your IEMs though, wash the tips and filters every month or so.. otherwise you'll run a greater risk of getting an ear infection.

it's not about the infection but about the fact that you NEED some wax for your protection and the canaphones push it inside so you have less protection

My teacher said it was that the music gets blasted are closer to you eardrums since you shove the ear buds way into your ears which causes the damage.

Not sure if thats true though.

Well its your decision lol. I'm not going to tell you to clean your ears if you don't want to.

Just be aware that headphones do not isolate as well as IEMs (unless you buy the noise cancellation ones, which don't have admirable sound quality). So on the bus, train or wherever there is excessive noise, it will cut into your headphones and dampen your music.

Cleaning your ears is sth completly different and with good closed over the head's you don't hear the noise.

Over the ear headphones, good or otherwise, are generally impractical for commuter use. Over the ears are usually used in a home environment.
