    output power 18mw per channel?

I use bass boost 10 (11..15 does no difference at all:D ) treble boost 1, EQ set to normal. When volume is set to more than >30 i notice terrible sound distortion, thats not the problem of headphones! i use volume control for keeping my headphones at normal volume while testing. Distortion disappears according to: NORMAL EQ with bass boost 8 volume 32(max volume without distortion) ; bass boost 6, volume 36, bass bost 4, volume 40.
I made comparison with iriver iFP8xx series with spec 18mw per channel and sound is more louder about 30%. I also compared T30 (15mw per channle) sound level is similar. I have KOSS porta pro and noticed that Miniplayer does not have enough power for them while my iriver ifp 899 have more power than needed for KOSS porta pro. So 18 mw per channel is just meizu fake, can say 15mw per channel or less would be more logical. I found miniplayer not loud with 32 and more ohm headphones hovewer it is really loud with 16ohm earphones creative ep-630, sennheiser cx300 or with other in-earphones.

Thats probably because the advertised 18mW/channel output of the M6 is the peak output and not the RMS (average) output.

You'll get distortion with sound enhancements with the M6 because thats just the way it is. Loud volumes + bass enhancements in particular will cause distortion in just about every song you have.

Impedence of your phones' will play a part in how loud your miniPlayer can get. Generally earphones with lower impedence (~16ohms) will be louder than a set with an impedence of 32 ohms. Of course, don't try anything lower than 8ohms (aka plugging in power hungry speakers into your miniPlayer), as they will draw lots of current from your m6's amplification circuit and damage it. The effects of course won't be apparent immediately, but you'll run the risk of shortening the life of the player

    yes, i agress with blackstar...

remember, that the gauge of wire connected to the head or earphones plays a role regarding juice to be heard cause the more gauge equals to the power filling to the phones, so more power needed to fulfill...

speakers: its all about impedence, not matter the size and shape...

And when the power ratings are almost always indicated as the peak power being twice as the RMS, the miniplayer would have 9mW per channel @ 16ohms? The power rating was the one thing that affected to my decision of bying miniPlayer... I'm quite mad right now...

But anyway, my old Creative zen nano plus did'nt have any of the miniplayers clear sound and punch, and the volume levels were much lower... Cretive has 7mW per channel (probaply @ 16 ohms)

i'm not sure that they are always half the peak value. RMS by definition is an average of the entire spectrum, true output is not necessarily half of the peak.

I hardly ever push my miniPlayer to volumes above 20 so I'm not quite sure about the maximum output of the miniPlayer. Based on the increments of volume (on the basis that they are all constant), the miniPlayer should be delivering ~13-15mW per channel in comparison to various other DAP's I own. Although this is just an estimate, and nothing quantifiable.

Could it be measured, if you'd get a 16 ohm good quality power resistor, 5W for example, plugged it to player, got a sinewave sound, for example 1000 Hz and measured the Amperes? That's probably no way to measure anything, but I have had this in mind for a long time...

Theres software for computers that will analyse the output of your DAP and graph it, although its rather expensive and buying the software won't change how loud your player gets :D

I´ve no problem. I´ve got Koss Porta Pro and little ear buds Sony MDR EX71SLA. Both headphones are equally loud. When set to flat EQ - there´s no distorsion...
