Maybe has something to do with how the files is placed on the player ?

I have tride like this:
Music in: /MUSIC/In Flames - Clayman/
Album Art in: /albums/ClaymanIn Flames.jpg

Will try to put the "In Flames - Clayman" dir in the root when i get home.
Try like this:
Music in: /MUSIC/Clayman/In Flames
Album Art in: /Albums/ClaymanIn Flames.jpg

Make sure the ID tags also match.

Works perfect for me. Most of my albums had been working as well syncing with WMP11 through MTP. The ones that didn't had a jpg in the albums folder but wasn't named correctly (didn't have the artist's name). Just added it and it worked like a charm

thanks.

Yeah that worked. But i refuse to move all my music in a new order.
Well i can live with no album art. Never missed it before so

What i do hate is that they still havent fixed an GUI that behaves the same way in movies and music. That is just crap. Get the feeling that one team programed the music player and another made the movie player. AND they dont get to talk to eachother or try the other teams controles

The subfolder thing actually works
In fact, if you put your music in /MUSIC/Foo/Bar/, then the album art used is /Albums/BarFoo.jpg, and that, whatever the tag actually is !

So here is what I've done to have is usable with my way of ordering music, that is every albums in a single "Artist Name - Album Name" folder :
  • Put the music in /MUSIC/Album/The Offspring - Smash/
  • Save the album art as /Albums/The Offspring - SmashAlbum.jpg
...and that's it !

So basically the trick is to put all the music in a useless subfolder.

Hope I'm clear enough, and that helps

I too can't get this trick to work on my TP player.
Any TP'ers out here who can?
The only difference in the firmware is the low-level coding concerning the different screens

Also, I forgot to say my player is a TP. Any more luck now for you ?

I think some of you are overlooking or misunderstanding this:

'Edit: Apart from having correct ID-tags, you must also have your songs sorted by Artist/Album, such as: "MUSIC\Red Hot Chilipeppers\Stadium Arcadium"'

you have to put your music into a specific directory in the root MUSIC directory...

"MUSIC\(Artist Name)\(Album Name)"

lOtR that is just genious. It works very well. Thanks!
By the way, for the album art to be 80x80, is that 80px by 80px? Or is it 8mm X 8mm?

lOtR's method works flawlessly and simply. Also, 80 by 80 most likely refers to pixel size. If you have a bigger one, it will just size it down. I'm assuming to conserve stress on resizing, 80x80 is optimal for the player's sake.

Would it really be that difficult for the M6 to read a file called "folder.jpg" included in the same folder as the music as the album art.

An additional method would be to read the album art stored in the ID3 tag as the the primary source of album art.

Other than that this is one great player.

I agree, like the toaster-plugin for winamp, so simple. All my albumfolders has this im not going to rename them all to get this working. I dont know why they make it so complicated.
Hope they fix it.

Do you know that for a fact?
It would be great if they could care free build on a low-level TP and SP version.
Maybe they can. I have a less optimistic view.
Multiple versions of the same software will be developed, with multiple people working on it.
Different bugs for the different screen will arise. The new functionalities will cause new bugs.
Some on the new screen version, some on the old screen version.
Bugfixing introduces other bugs. Etc. Etc. Then they merge the lott into two unified revisions.
Conflicts, two or more changes to the same component, must be resolved.

I'm pleasantly surprised they keep developing for the 'old' TP player anyway.
Cheers for Meizu. I hope they keep it up.

However, I think no TP owner, but many SP owners had it working with Error's first method?
Let's not close our eyes and expect the two versions to behave the same.

How did you get it to work?

By reverse matching the directory names, in MSC mode.
For example:

\MUSIC\Rock\Marilyn Manson - Mechanical Animals\Coma White.MP3
\MUSIC\Rock\Marilyn Manson - Mechanical Animals\Disassociative.MP3
\MUSIC\Rock\Marilyn Manson - Mechanical Animals\etc...

\Albums\Marilyn Manson - Mechanical AnimalsRock.jpg

And it does not seem to care about ID tags this way.

Don't know if it has been mentioned in this thread already, but using the latest firmware (don't know if it matters) you can view album art for compilation cd's (different artists) just by taking the album name as filename for the jpg.

Example: Club 2K7.jpg.

This will show the image with all files from the Club 2K7 album :D

This is amazing! Absolutely works like a charm in my TP player.

Please note one thing: in the album.art jpg file name there's the word "Album" after the actual album name. I did not pay attention to this in the first time and took long time to double check this (stupidly).

The positive side is that this forces me to order in a better way my collection, so now i have random songs (downloaded stuff) in MUSIC folder and entire albums well listed in the "Album" subfolder. This is important for me: I use the Browse function a lot!

Also note that the album art picture name is NOT case-sensitive.

Thank you for this great find. Now I love my player even more!

Ciao!
