What 'phones are you using with your M6 / SL?

I'm using the Head-Direct RE2 and couldn't be happier. The extensive DSP that this device allows is pretty amazing, allowing you to boost the lows a little bit to compensate for the RE2's slight roll off (without bloating the low-mids I might add).

I you have the same combo, I would be interested in what your EQ and other settings are...I'll post mine if anyone is interested.

Thanks to Meizu for such a great sounding unit with such and advanced DAC. And also thanks to Head-Direct for providing a superior sounding earphone at a very affordable price!

I do not have an M6, but I use KOSS Sparkplugs with my Creative Zen and Zune. Their headquarters are in Milwaukee which is pretty close, so I like supporting local businesses. But there earphones are very nice for the price, which is under $15. They come with a lifetime warranty as well. I don't know how they are quality wise, I'm not an audiophile, but they seem pretty decent to me.

i've heard nice things about the re2 and i agree most buds/phones need a little eq to sound thier best. i was using some se310's (till the left channel started buzzing) at more or less a flat setting. my JVC fx66 is bass heavy and a little light at the top end; eq'ed to match. as a reference i recently bought an audio technica ath a700. they're a full sized can, closed and to my tin ears sound flat. even thought they're full sized they are easily driven (70 ohm but around 100db at 1 mv at at 1Kh) for most music i barely get over 25 in volume control. the ath is powered with out any eq or bass boost/trebble and they sound great. i don't walk the streets with them on but do use them at work. full size cans have the advantage of slipping on and off easily, unlike canal phones. also full size cans (i don't know what other factors are involved here) the size of the drivers and the point where the sound radiates from; just outside the ears, to me make classic headphones the ideal. the price point all seem to favor full size when it value and quality. don't misunderstand, iems and buds have a place and strengths!

i'd suggest taking your player and listening to some reference headphones at an "audio salon" you might want to leave your wallet at home.

I don't need any full size cans, I have a nice stereo system at home. I just use the M6 and the RE2's for travel and at work, and am pleasantly surprised on how nice it sounds.

I use Ultimate Ear Superfi.5 Pro's with mine, probally not really known on these forums, but i tend to listen to music with EQ, and any adjustments to bass / treble off.

I used to have the Skullcandy Smokin' buds, but recently I changed to a pair of Alpha Brainwawz.

I'm using a Sennheiser PX100 it sound good for me there is also a $10USd rebate with it and the price isn't to bad, I don't like the skullcandy that came with my M6SL.

Wait Skullcandys (Skullcandies?) don't come with Meizus, Meizus ship with Meizu brand earbuds.

They still very good, I sometimes still use them, but for now I use Kanon MD-52. Great sound too.

Nice to hear you did found a good belance between your M6 and RE2.
I’ve heard much about RE2 as well as the RE1. They should be pretty good.

Yes, the PT850s that come with your Meizu have a very balanced sound, but sometimes the high frequencies can feel a bit sharp. Have you tried the PT850B's? What about the PT850A's? I heard the B's have really good Bass.

All my PT850 are B's, but about the rest you say, I have a completely different experience with them.
PT850B might have slightly punching bass but with a drummy felling like cheap speakers. Overall they can't handle bass at all. The sound gets easily muddy if you put the volume too high and PT850B still need lots of that if you ask me. (25<)
Just the high frequencies are very soft which make them very enjoyable and the mids are great too. Still I prefer MD-52 above PT850 because they both handle bass and volume better. Their weakness is just instead the high frequencies which can feel a bit sharp. If I just lower them a bit, the mid just gets too dark for my taste.

For now I use 3 headphones:
Ultimate Ears Super.fi 5 pro - Great all around but I can never find a 100% comfy seal. Yet they still rock. Great highs and nice kick yet the kick could start a bit lower.
Audiotechnica ATH a900 - Very clear threw all the spectrum, easy to drive, nice bass and highs, mids a bid back. Pretty nice stage.
Sennheiser HD-270 - Hard to drive, bass oriented, good impact but the sound is a bit bloated with bass. The biggest advantage of them is being extremely comfy and warm (they are soo good for winter ).
