This is a discussion on Green Screen of Death/ resource.bin within the miniPlayer M6 / SL forums, part of the Meizu Product Discussions category; Okay, first off, I'm a tech n00b.

I've recently got the green "No Resource! Please Upgrade Resource Again!" screen on my fairly new Meizu miniplayer, the M6 SL one.
I've been browsing all these threads around the internet, and apparently you're supposed to download this firmware and then copy the resource.bin into the root folder of the meizu miniplayer.
Well, I downloaded the firmware from diff links (i think they were all the same ones, and all from threads on this site). . . but the problem is, every time I've finished downloading the firmware, I get this one little icon with the file name and nothing else. Where's the resource.bin?
What the hell is the resource.bin? What does it look like?
No worries. The File is .rar correct? Head over to Free Software Downloads and Reviews - Download.com and search for WinRAR. Download it. No viruses, thats what I like about Download.com. Take that SL firmware file, and open it with WinRAR. Drag the M6SL.ebn and the resource.bin BOTH into your player's drive in my computer. Reboot your player. Wait for 5 mins, Do Not touch your player. All should be well. By the way, Welcome to the Forums.

Yes, Yes I know, I wrote a Novel...
Hey, thanks a bunch!
(even though the winrar won't download on my comp for some reason, even after i added that site to my internet trusted zone. . but that's another prob i'll have to fix)
Thanks for the welcome - it's nice to know there's an english-speaking community that loves meizu stuff, i only ever saw them in China. . .
Anyway a question though I never asked: what was the cause of the green screen? Did something go wrong or was the miniplayer supposed to do this at a certain point?
The miniPlayer occasionally does this when you upgrade the firmware, M6.ebn is the OS, resource.bin is the GUI's pictures, etc. Did you receive it like this or did you attempt upgrading by yourself?
Come on, don't lie. It doesn't do it by itself. Someone else must have tried upgrading it or you did, and you're lying since you think we'll think you as a bad person if you say yes.
Dude, I really didn't do anything!
I didn't even know you COULD upgrade it.
Why would I lie. . . how would I be considered a bad person if I even tried to upgrade my meizu in the beginning? That makes no sense, plus, aren't I trying to upgrade it now anyway, by getting a new "Resource"?
Plus, I liked my meizu the way it was
Anyway, here's the new prob, slightly unrelated to the green screen- Winrar won't install on my comp, even after I adjusted the security settings on my comp. . . any possible reasons?
I don't mind whether you think I'm a bad person or not. So that means I wasn't lying. End.
Windows XP. . .thanks for your help, but I got Winrar from another website finally.
How long do we have to wait for the Meizu to start working after placing the resource.bin etc. into the root folder?
The Meizu Me website says the Meizu will turn off on it's own after receiving the new files. . . and then you can turn it on and everything will be okay. . .
Well I did all that and now it's just a black screen with a grey rectangle in the center.
OKAY
SOLVED THE PROBLEM ^_^
without resorting to DFU tools.
I'm not sure what exactly went wrong, I believe I either a)used the incorrect firmware b)did not hold the re-format button long enough c) both.
Whatever. It's just all back to normal now, thank you guys so much for all your help and effort- even the dude who suggested that I was a liar :P , and uh. . . other than having the meizu all normal again, I don't see any diff. in the firmware on my meizu. I'm just guessing that I didn't upgrade in any way and that I just got my old miniplayer back.
Yeah, JkPwNsTeR can seem a bit impatien at times, but aren't we all? Some just decide to show who they are, others don't. I believe that you used the wrong Resource.bin. You probably used one made for an earlier firmware version. That's why I suggest to put in BOTH the M6.ebn, and the Resource.bin, that way you know you have the right firmware, and as an upside, you just upgraded your player by putting both files in. When did you get your player? What version (On the back) SL, SP, TP? Oh one last thing, no need to hold down the format button at all. The format button might be the reason this happened in the first place, you might have accidentally hit it when it was in your pocket or something. The Format (The rewind "<<|" button formats when you hold it down during bootp of the player) is for serious problems, and when you want to wipe your player's memory. The Resource.bin disappeears when you format, so that might be why. Glad we could help. If you have any more problems don't hesitate to send me or JkPwNsTeR a message. One more thing, WinRAR is free, I think it might be a bug, because I've had mine for over a year now, and it still works, haven't paid a cent. Just keep using the evaluation button.
