Possibly in a later version. I don't see too much of a need for expanding memory, unless you'd like to watch more than 80 full-length movies a day. That's about the storage of a 16GB M8.

Memory slots are always good (easy way to upgrade your memory, and to share/transfer big files....possibly from camera/camcoder if they are compatibles), so having it in a future M8 would be nice....However, you are right: a 16 GB device can do without memory slot, and in the m8 case you have a backup solution: it comes with USB host capability, hopefully USB2 host with good transfer rate.... So if you need memory expansion which can be shared with PC or friends, you can go with a (very cheap per GB nowadays) USB memory key.
Not as portable as SD or microSD cards, but cheaper and at least as convenient for exchanging data with PC...
Or for massive storage, pocket disks...I can see a great use case here: transfer holliday photo and movies from digital camcoder on the portable disk, and use the M8 as a previewer/editor while on the go: not need for a laptop anymore! :-)

I don't think the M8 can be used as a editor, since mobile devices can only do so much. The idea of using it as a bridge to transfer files from two devices is a really good idea. I hope they can implement it, whether it be third-party, or first-party.

Basically, you don't need the slot to expand the memory, rather to transfer data as you said.

That would be amazing if the M8 had a memory slot, but unfortunately I do not think there is room for one at this moment.

Would it have dual sim card slots? I know that most phones in China have two slots, so it would make sense for Meizu to add this feature.

Probably not. Many Chinese brand phones have two SIM cards slots, but the majority of imports (SE, Nokia, Motorola, etc.) have one SIM card slot. There is the possibility, it's just very slim.

You can have a plan for unlimited local calling in your home city and another plan for cheap calling anywhere in China. Get the idea? Basically this just eliminates the for a second cell phone. Trust me, more than enough people have two cell phones in China.

dual sim would not be an interesting addition for me, a memory card slot on the other hand would be very much appreciated, but not really nessecary if the m8 has 16GB, a mass-storage mode and a standard usb connector.

I have been asking myself the following question:
will the m8 recharge when transferring data over the usb port?

thats a very nice feature, becouse i used to have a sony psp, and i always asked myself why it could not charge itself by usb, so i like the charging via usb a lot.
I think it would be a good idea to ship the m8 with a fast-charger, like the m6 had, beouse charging via usb took a lot longer...

i'm hoping for at least 20 hours of music playback, and 6 hours of movie playback, but i think i might be over-estimating the battery life, since the b-frames will have to be software-decoded, it will probably be only 4 hours of video...
But only the future will tell, i'm sure when its released outside china there will be extensive reviews available already anyways...

It could be a higher capacity one, but that would probably make the M8 thicker. I'm sure they will sell battery replacements...

i dont really care, since i currently use nokia n82, wich is quite thick, i prefer to have a higher battery capacity than having to take several batteries with me when i go out.
