Another M6 stuttering isue topic.

Hi,
I have problem with my M6 SP - it's stuttering at >50% of my mp3. I have a 2.002.3 firmware. The stuttering issue is fixed in newer firmware?

PS. Is there any cons to change the firmware from old 2.002.3 ? ;]

Thanks for help.

I changed firmware to 2.004.6 and the stuttering is less annoying than on 2.002.3

I've actually never noticed any stutter in any firmware using mp3's.

i have only noticed the stuttering on certain mp3 files with large embedded album art and no silence at the end of the song, so i think the problem with the downloaded files will be the large embedded album art (you can remove it by mp3tag, search for it) in the id3v2 tag.
since i removed those from all my mp3s i never noticed any stuttering anymore.
I hope the m8 will not need this procedure, but it would not be a large problem to me to be honest.
i dont really care about having to remove the album art from the tag, but it would be nice if it could read it instead of the .jpg files we need to use for the m6 right now...

I just got my M6 2 days ago.

I experieced stutter sound and the end or the begining not sure.

Btw, I can fixed it using foobar by follow these steps:

1. Open you mp3 files in M6 with foobar
2. Select all files to be fixed and righ click
3. Select Tagging > mp3 tag types
4. Tick only ID3v1 and click update files

That's all, after that i don't exp any stutter again

Cheers :-)

Geees!!!

This thread show me that there always be people believing that the stutter issue is a problem invented by some newbies and that have easy solution...

Guys this problem have come since the very moment was released the players with combination of Samsung ARM SA58700X07 processor with audio decoder Philips UDA1380TT, which drives Meizu M6 and M3.

The most clarifying thread concerning this issue was this Stuttering music where our member The Torminator exchange several e-mails with Meizu spokesman, who accepted that is a problem of MP3 in Philips audio decoder.

Right

jskasia:
Read this and you will maybe understand that this is not quiet easy to be fixed completely, if not impossible.
Still I wish there were a way to cheat the codec to play them smooth without to re-encode them.
I understand that your steps did worked for you, but I believe it only handle about time before you still notice stutter on your songs. You did only have your M6 for 2 days!
We have tried modifying the tags before and they do have a connection to this somehow, but it’s in most cases it don’t remove the stutter completely.

I use MP3val to fix errors and minimize stutter, but still by trying this it’s never remove the stutter completely on all of my songs.

Still you should try your steps on the test song on that thread we found and reply back.
It could be nice to see how well this work.

Should I make a list of all the other competitor's glitches? Seriously, all electronics have flaws. Do you like the fact that you don't have much of a choice to install iTunes? Do you like the fact that you don't have much of a choice to install Zune software? Probably, if you think some players have no flaws.

Do you think very long play list will effect on player stutter?
Several day so far I don't get any stuttering. except a gap between music

My player is m6SL with 2.004.6 firmware version.

It seems that you were wanting to have stutter
As it has been said in other topics: stutter affects MP3 files and have several causes, like bad encoding (old encoders or files taken from the net), big embedded cover art, songs ending in long silence, to mention most common.
This is a problem of the way is managed sound by Samsung in combination with Philips audio decoder, so it affects mainly M6... then M6SL has less options to have this problem as it doesn't have Philips but Wolfson decoder.
In rare cases this has affected M6SL is with songs ending in a long silence, which is not managed correctly by Samsung processor and it deals with song taken from the net.
Music ripped by the owner (or converted to other format than MP3) definitively doesn't stutter.
This annoying stutter issue have create a sort of paranoia among Meizu users.
MP3 files taken from the net have higher chances to have problems due to transmission failures, this failures normally are corrected by a normal MP3 player (portable or PC player), error correction is called. Philips audio codec fails in this aspects, but also a PC player sometimes fails correcting this... this files of course will fail too in M6SL or any other portable player.

It isn't that simple. The stuttering has many different causes in my oppinion that differently make it occur. The stuttering always happens at the end meaning the player just starts reading into non-sound data after the audio file's sound data.
As many people say removing big cover arts help, it is probably at least partly a software problem because the audio codec - I believe - isn't supposed to decode any ID3 tags. Only the audio stream. I think the problem(s) at least partly lie in Meizu's software.
But really, this problem comes out very rarely really, so in my oppinion it's simplest to encode all songs put on the M6. Managed by some program of course. It takes some time but one can upload songs transcoded to for example Vorbis easily in a management program like winamp, which also compresses better than MP3 and one may save space taking off unneeded bitrates. (Or who needs vorbis bitrate over 192kb/sec on a portable player? The degradation is virtually unhearable there and I guess few here listen to the M6 in total silence with very expensive and good earphones...)

Read the thread stuttering music where a spokeman of Meizu agreed that the problem is due to audio decoder

I agree that occurs rarely... but there are other kind of music collectors like me that don't rip his own material but download most of them... due to this I did buy a Cowon D2 player that have never present this problem of stuttering... it present other problems not so important as this but problems like any other player (or mechanical device)
